Delivering homes of distinction

29 Nov , 2022

Vincent Walsh Construction builds homes, not houses. Specialising in high-quality, bespoke solutions, with the keenest attention to every detail a constant throughout the entire process, Vincent and his team are renowned for consistently delivering outstanding new builds, extensions and renovations to an ever-growing list of satisfied home owners across counties Meath, Kildare and Dublin.

Synonymous with building, extending, refurbishing and fitting out high-quality homes, Vincent Walsh Construction has earned an unrivalled reputation as a home builder of choice. Renowned for invariably delivering high quality workmanship, on time and within budget, Vincent’s reputation for excellence – in terms of both the final product and the service – precedes him and this is why he benefits from a steady volume of striking new projects through repeat business and word of mouth.

From his ideally-located base in Moynalvey, Summerhill, Vincent has amassed an impressive project portfolio constructing and upgrading homes in Meath and surrounding counties. Every job is immaculately and professionally finished to the most exacting standards and it’s therefore no surprise to learn that his eponymous contracting company was extremely busy at the time of writing:

“There’s plenty of work on at the minute, thankfully,” Vincent confirms. “The order book is full up until the middle of next year and we have a few nice projects on. We’re mostly doing one-off new builds – with a full turnkey service from start to finish – and I generally run one or two extensions at the same time to keep everything moving. Most of the work is in Meath and Kildare these days and I’m very lucky in that I don’t have to travel too far.”

Vincent started doing one-of houses under his own name around 2009 / 10, having worked extensively in the industry as both a carpenter and builder for many years prior to that: “I had been in a partnership before going out on my own. Prior to that, I served my time as a carpenter, working for my father, who was also a builder,” he reflects.

“When I went out on my own, I started doing small one-off houses to a builder’s finish and went from there. Today, we deliver very high-quality turnkey homes from start to finish and I’ve been lucky enough to work on a couple of particularly lovely projects over the last few years.

“For example, we’re doing four luxury, high-quality homes in the one development in Dunshaughlin at the moment. These are top-end, luxurious, very smart homes.”

How did that multi-unit development materialise? “We were contacted by a family member of this site who had heard about our company by word of mouth.  We were awarded the first contract which led to us securing the second contract for a second family member. The satisfaction of these clients aided us in securing the last two contracts in this much sought after exclusive development.”

Which just goes to show the importance of leaving a good calling card. There’s no better advertisement for a builder than the quality of the work he leaves behind. “Practically all of our work comes from referrals and repeat business and we work with the same architects and engineers all the time,” Vincent continues.

“I also have a very loyal team of subcontractors which I have built up over the years and we all work together to deliver the best possible end result. We have three directly-employed staff and the rest are subbies. We’ve been together for a while and all work very well together. All the subcontractors I use are excellent at their work and they always provide a quality finish. I believe you are only as good as your subcontractors and in this respect I’m very lucky to have access to some great tradesmen, whose contributions are a very important part of the business.”

Each time he takes on a new project, Vincent prioritises quality and client satisfaction above all else. “Ultimately, it comes down to quality,” he states. “We are building homes and you can’t just churn them out on a conveyor belt. You can’t rush and you have to allow yourself the time that is necessary – including drying time, etc. – to get the quality right and finish them to the highest standard.

“Generally, for a new build, you are looking at ten months from start to finish to get everything right. Communication is also important. We talk to the client all the way through and I deal directly with them myself. Once you communicate with a client and talk to them up front, that gives them peace of mind.”

The skyrocketing cost of materials has impacted rather dramatically on the construction industry in recent times, but Vincent is hoping that things are starting to resolve themselves somewhat: “Despite the fluctuation in prices, we are still working away, thank God. Timber, insulation and steel were the three things hit hardest but they do seem to have settled down a bit. We’ve been around for a while and, having set the business up around the tail-end of the last recession, I believe things will work out in the end.”

Key to this for Vincent Walsh Construction will be continuing to focus on delivering comfortable, energy-efficient and aesthetically-pleasing homes of distinction without ever compromising on quality. With a large fleet of machinery at his disposal to provide full site clearance / groundworks services, Vincent is perfectly placed to provide a complete service from breaking ground to handing over the front-door key.

“The industry is in a good place and everybody is pulling together in the one direction,” he concludes. “The drawings now are top class and the detail in those designs is unbelievable.  As already mentioned, communication is key to the running of a smooth project and achieving the end result which we strive to on every job – a top end product and happy clients.”
