Des continues “During the last five years, we have seen a rise in the number of one-off houses. A lot of focus has shifted with clients exploring more with lighting, energy efficiency, HRV, airtightness, heat pumps etc. In terms of commercial work, we’ve carried out ongoing improvements, renovations and extensions and have completed numerous commercial units in Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim and Roscommon. Nearly all of our work is secured through client recommendations / word of mouth.”
While Milestone Construction is a thriving business now, it wasn’t always that way. When Des and his family returned from New York in 2007 to set up the company, little did he know that a deep recession was about to hit.
“It was a tough start, but a good learning experience at the same time. We hung in there for the first few years and gradually the sector started picking up again. We’re grateful for all the support we received locally and from all our clients. In the public sector we’ve worked with the HSE, OPW, Leitrim County Council, Sligo County Council and Department of Education. Along with a large list of commercial clients; too many to name individually.”
