Specialising in new builds, renovations, extensions and groundworks, DGB Construction Ltd in Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford has earned an enviable reputation for quality construction at affordable prices.
While the company was only established on March 29, 2022, its owner Darren Guiry has over 15 years’ experience in the industry and boasts a strong background in construction. He served his time as a blocklayer in his uncle Sean’s company, Ryan & Guiry Ltd, before operating as a sole trader under the name Darren Guiry Building Contractors for four years. That led to him forming a limited company almost three years ago.
“I started off doing house extensions before branching into new builds after becoming a limited company,” he explains.
“Construction is in the blood and I learned a lot from working for my uncle Sean and Michael Ryan in their business. Everyone knows Michael through the GAA. He had a huge amount of success as manager of the Ballymacarbry and Waterford ladies footballers, and also managed the Waterford and Westmeath senior hurlers,” adds the affable 34-year-old, who is a former Waterford senior footballer himself and won two county senior championship medals with his club The Nire, receiving the man of the match award for good measure in the 2018 final against Kilrossanty.
“Word of mouth has played a big part in helping to get established. One job usually leads to another which speaks volumes about the quality of our work. We take great pride in everything we do. We have a very good name in the private home building sector in West Waterford and South Tipperary, and a lot of that is also down to the high-calibre tradespeople we have working for us.”
Superior workmanship, value-for-money, an unwavering commitment to Health & Safety and working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of DGB Construction. From concept to completion, Darren and his small but dedicated team are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs and to the highest standard.
Whether your next project is a new build, renovation or extension, DGB Construction’s one-stop shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and hassle-free. The Co. Waterford contractor’s reputation for high quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from design teams and scores of satisfied customers.
By employing highly-skilled people, working closely with subcontractors, engineers and architects, and using only the very best building products, this fully-insured company is able to deliver projects that not only meet, but exceed expectations.
Darren is joined in the business by four direct employees, including three on-site and Mairead Lynch in the office. They are supported and supplemented by the same tried and trusted subcontractors, including Thomas English Plumbing & Heating, John English Blocklaying, Alan McGrath Carpentry, Jamie Byrnes Carpentry, Liam McCarthy Plastering, ProAir and M Gleeson Plant Hire. Darren’s main suppliers are Munster Joinery, Chadwicks in Clonmel, Flynn’s Homevalue Hardware in Dungarvan, Topline Curran’s in Dungarvan, Gleeson Quarries and Roadstone. He also enjoys an excellent working relationship with George Taylor Consulting Engineering in Dungarvan.
“George is usually my ‘go-to’ man when the client doesn’t supply their own engineer or architect,” he says.
Business is flying for DGB Construction which completed two new builds in 2024 as well as moving on to two more in Fourmilewater and Clonmel. In addition, the company is currently carrying out an extension in Ardfinnan and a renovation / extension in The Nire.
“We try not to take on too much and to concentrate on one job at a time. We insist on quality over quantity and being always available and willing to go the extra mile for the client. We’re here to help them as much as possible and to make the experience as stress-free as possible. We build beautiful bespoke homes which typically range from 1,800 sq. ft. to 2,500 sq. ft. in size.
“We’re here to make our clients’ dream home become a reality. We have three of four jobs already priced up for 2025 and are going from strength to strength.”
Passionate about construction, Darren would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as his staff and subcontractors for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
