Adda Build – the timber engineering specialists

13 Apr , 2026

Operating out of Tydavnet in north county Monaghan, Adda Build / Adda Timber Engineering is one of the fastest-growing providers of off-site timber frame systems in Ireland. Building Ireland interrupted founders Adrian Keenan and Damien Hamill’s busy schedule to find out more about this industry-leading operation whose systems are in huge demand island-wide.

With current developments ongoing in every province across Ireland, showcasing the company’s nationwide reach and expertise, Adda Build is a rapidly expanding and growing new business that has been delivering exceptional products and service levels to the construction industry since its inception in County Monaghan in 2020.

Adda Build gets its name from the combined first names of co-founders Adrian Keenan and Damien Hamill, who between them amassed a wealth of experience working previously as roofing contractors and timber frame erectors, building up an extensive knowledge of the industry which enabled them to establish their own off-site factory.

Based in the heart of Tydavnet, Monaghan and now directly employing a 30-strong team, Adda Build specialise in high-quality timber frame installations and full supply-and-fit packages. Developers across Ireland rely on Adda Timber Engineering as the partner of choice for on-time delivery of energy-efficient, durable and cost-effective timber frame solutions that set the standard for quality and value in the market.

Adrian is humbled by the success the off-site timber frame manufacturing business has enjoyed to date and admits that demand for their high-quality, value-added timber frame solutions has in the first five years exceeded all expectations:

“So far, so good,” says the quiet-spoken Monaghan man. “We started literally from scratch and the business has grown in direct response to strong demand for our product. The first site we did was for a developer in Monaghan who wanted to change from blocks to timber frame, and that put us on the map.”

Today, the lion’s share of Adda Build’s workload comprises designing, manufacturing, supplying and installing timber frame systems to developers for multi-unit developments the length and breadth of Ireland.

Combining quality, efficiency and sustainability, as well as value for money, these high-quality timber frame solutions were en route to a number of sites across Ulster, Connacht and Leinster at the time of writing, including a development of 40 new houses in Galway, 60 in Moycullen, 30 in Athlone, 57 closer to home in Castleblayney and 30 in Kildare.

Supplementing their work for developers, Adda Build also take on occasional small one-off builds and one such project in Tuam was featured on RTE’s popular television show, Build Your Own Home, presented by master builder Harrison Gardner.

Meanwhile, in Newbliss, County Monaghan, working as main contractor themselves, Damien and Adrian have recently started work on a unique project that involves the demolition of an existing out building and the construction of six new two-storey residential houses.

At the heart of the business is the dedicated Adda Build team who deliver the goods day in day out both in the factory and out onsite: “We have a team of 20 in the factory alongside two crews of five who go out and erect the system onsite,” Adrian continues.

Is further growth on the cards or is it time to consolidate? “We have no intention of letting our standards drop or compromising on quality but there’s definitely scope to grow the business further. The sky is the limit and we hope to keep on growing.

“There’s big demand for our timber frames at the minute and our customers are very happy with them, which is resulting in a lot of repeat business. There has been a huge increase in the number of houses being built over the last couple of years and I can only see that trend continuing.”

Used to superb effect the world over, timber frame houses are firmly established as the leading modern method of construction, bringing myriad benefits through factory-controlled offsite manufacturing. “Timber frame is all about speed and efficiency and that’s why it’s still growing in popularity,” Damien notes. “There’s a very quick turnaround and these systems are ideal for developments where there is a number of houses being built.”

Sourcing the highest-quality imported timber from Scandinavia, Russia and Germany, Adda Timber Engineering can put together four or five complete timber frame systems a week at present and are aiming to get that number up to six.

Considering that the company was set up during the darkest days of Covid and that all the work has been secured without advertising, through word of mouth, this really has been a magnificent success story.

“This is what we know and we don’t know any different,” Adrian concludes. “Bearing in mind that we started out during such tough times, it’s surprising how well things have gone. There’s no shortage of work out there and it’s not easy to get additional staff at the minute.

“Looking forward to 2026, it’ll be a very busy year and hopefully we can go on to even bigger and better things. We’ll try to expand and that’ll follow on from looking after our customers. It’s all repeat business and word of mouth. Developers know they can trust us. Some people have asked me how come we don’t have a website … it’s because we don’t need one!”
