Tipperary based Cross Fabrications Ltd is owned and run by Paudie Meehan who provides an array of services that include glass balustrades, pipe fitting, powder coating, glass canopies, balconies, structural steel, mild and stainless steel.
From the companies workshop in Borrisoleigh, this business manufactures high quality products for their ever increasing customer base.

“We have a few companies that we would do a lot of work for. Over the past few years, we have been working closely with LIDL and any upgrades they are doing, we are usually involved,” said Paudie. “This generally sees us travel around the country, but it is a great contract to have.
Paudie added that they do a lot of work for Westin Homes, Monamai and Duggan Construction to name a few. “We have long term contracts with one or two companies and also on going contracts with a number of others”.
“It is great to have a customer base like this.”

“It can be difficult to employ skilled workers as there is a shortage in the country at the moment. I decided a few years back to focus more on taking on apprentices and training them to the standard that I want and I do feel that this has been a bonus for us.”
Over the years the company has evolved with the changing economic climate to provide a tailored service to suit all budgets, Paudie added that the economic downturn did not have a significant impact on the business and he also outlined that overall the company has been expanding as of late.
“We were extremely careful as a company during the downturn but continued to improve our services. We are not just confined to the construction industry and carry out our work across a number of different sectors and that has stood to us over the years. We have grown steadily in recent years, which we attribute to improving our quality, range of services and high quality completion of projects.”
Paudie is already looking to the future and he is in the process of moving the business to a new 19,000sq ft premises in Borrisoleigh, which will enable the company to grow with their clients.
“The workshop I have is small. It has done its job, but we need a bigger premises and this will make a big difference for us. I’ve had to outsource some work which we couldn’t do in our current premises as it was just too small, but we won’t need to do that in the new place, as it will all be completed in house. It’s a slow process, but we will get there eventually.”
