KDK Scaffolding’s track record in Health & Safety was recognised at this year’s All-Ireland Occupational Safety Awards. The Enniscorthy, Co Wexford-based company is at the forefront of delivering scaffolding services across all industry sectors and their commitment to ensuring that all i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed when it comes to Health & Safety is standard setting.
The All-Ireland Occupational Safety Awards were established nationally in 1992 with 20 entries and have grown to become Ireland’s premier safety awards. The awards truly became an All-Ireland affair when the Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISG) joined forces with the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) in 1995.
To date, over two thousand entries have been received and the awards offer entrants the chance to showcase the health and safety performance of their business.
Winning a NISO/NISG Award demonstrates the positive and proactive culture of safety management that exists within a business. The many entrants that participate in the Awards each year, including large numbers of repeat entrants, is testament to the quality of the process and the high regard that the awards command.
They demonstrate positive corporate governance; provides recognition and promotes an organisation’s health and safety excellence. Put simply, it is an invaluable award endorsing health and safety management.
KDK Scaffolding ticked all the boxes when it came to the Best New Entry Medium Size Organisation category at the 2018 Awards which were held in Killarney on October 12th last.
“It’s a very prestigious award to win and we were delighted to be recognised by safety professionals within our industry,” company director Robert Kelly outlined to Building Ireland. “The way we look at it is that Health & Safety is paramount and we take our obligations in that area very seriously.
“A big fear we would have is having to go to a house and tell a family that “Johnny” got injured today at work. We are very proactive when it comes to Health & Safety and are Grade A SafeTCert accredited. We are also members of the City & Guilds but the easy part is to have all the certifications in the world, they have to mean something. The company’s motto is ‘Work Smarter, Better, Safer’.”
KDK is one of the largest privately owned scaffolding contractors in Ireland. Founding directors’ Robert and Matthew Kelly boast a collective knowledge in excess of 40 years and their expertise to adapt their services to the changing needs of their clients makes them what they are today.
They have found that their clients value KDK’s reputation for integrity, professionalism and excellence. Their success is built on total dedication to quality and service with their impeccable safety attitude at the forefront.
Relationships have been the key to their past success and will be more important than ever in the future. Their team is committed to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction on their projects.
KDK’s growth is primarily driven by repeat orders from existing clients, demonstrating their level of confidence in the ability of the company.
The weekly payroll includes 65 and Robert and Matthew consider people to be their greatest asset. They constantly invest in advancing their skills and education in order to continue to achieve the highest level of service that they provide to their clients.
Their experience is spread across all sectors, pharmaceutical, industrial, commercial, residential, power generation, manufacturing & processing, health sector and education projects.
Their collective years of experience guarantee a professional and complete service to all projects. They believe in a working partnership with their clients and provide state of the art level of service to all their clients regardless of project size.
In addition, they have specialized materials for the manufacturing, pharmaceutical industries and clean room environments.
“We’re currently on site at Fitzwilton House which is just off Leeson Street in Dublin which involves the demolition of the existing 1960s building, digging through the floor for a car park and development from four to eight storeys.”
Robert continued: “We’re very busy at the moment but, in terms of future expansion, our aim is to stay at a level that we can operate comfortably at rather than taken on more than we can handle. We pride ourselves on our understanding of the work we do, the experience and the knowledge we have accumulated as well as the service we provide our clients. We’re not infallible by any means but we always ensure that everything is run properly, particularly in how the company deals with our Health & Safety requirements.”
