Owner and director Karl Lyons knows its major resource is its people and their talents, therefore it has invested heavily to maximise their skills and experience to provide not only greater satisfaction to the individual employee but also enhances the quality of the product for the client.

“We have worked with many different Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and Clients over the years and in many cases have completed repeat projects with the same Design Team and Client. We are committed to continually delivering top quality projects, on time and within budget to the client’s bespoke requirements.”
Based in Clane, Co Kildare, the company carry out the majority of their work in their native county as well as Dublin, Meath and East Leinster.
Specialising in one-off houses in the high-end market, the company have developed a reputation for producing high quality work as Karl is adamant that their best form of advertisement is through word of mouth.
“There is no doubt that ensuring that a client is happy is the best advertisement for us as we have attracted plenty of work through word of mouth. We have set standards for ourselves and we must maintain and try to improve on them where possible.”
KL Construction offers a complete range of services as new builds, extensions, renovation and restoration are all facets of the business that they are experienced in carrying out.
KL Construction takes the stress out of building a new home. They are experienced home builders, specialising in the construction of A-rated energy efficient homes.
“We can take care of everything, from start to finish. It is very important to work with the client to understand their needs and ensure they are happy with the end product, but we also take away a lot of the stress that can arise from building a new home.”
Attention to detail is something that Karl has always focused on and with every new build, he adopts the attitude that he is building a home for himself.
“We pride ourselves on being meticulous. We ensure that every project (whether it be a bathroom refit, a refurbishment or a complete new-build) is completed on time, within budget, and finished to the highest standard. We are also conscious of the disruption any building work can cause to a home or business.”
With 80% of their work being carried out in the domestic market and 20% commercially, KL Construction employ a team of eight, while a number of trusted sub-contractors are used on projects.

When it comes to extensions, then there are few that rival Karl and his team’s expertise as they go that extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction.

We are registered with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (www.seai.ie) and through their Energy Saving Scheme, we are experts on how to improve the energy efficiency of new and existing homes. An extension or conversion can transform a home from one breaking at the seams to one designed especially for you.”
KL Construction is currently very busy as they like so many others play catch-up following the lockdown and Karl believes that keeping the business small as he describes it is the way forward.
“We have moved away from contracting work and we have built up a good reputation. We are a small business and that is the way I intend to keep it, like I said word of mouth has been our best form of advertisement and we have a good client base in place that we do a lot of work for.”
Of course, there have been a number of restrictions put in place due to Covid-19, but Karl stressed that with health and safety a priority with them, they have adapted well to the new regulations.
“We place a great deal of emphasis on health and safety and we have our own safety officer who oversees this area. Everyone in the company is compliant with all the regulations and they are there to be adhered too.”
Two thousand and nineteen was a busy year for Karl and the team as they had numerous projects on going throughout the which included working for his brother well known horse trainer Ger Lyons and the affable builder has a keen interest in the sport also.
“I would take an interest in horse racing and I’ve actually been sponsoring Ger’s top jockey Colin Keane for the past few years.”
Karl can be proud of his efforts in the building trade also as his reputation continues to grow with each project that is completed by the team.
“I’m delighted with the workload we have on at the moment and the business is going in the right direction. We are busy for the foreseeable future and hopefully that will continue beyond that.”
