The majority of builders these days offer turnkey service with regards to many aspects of the construction industry.
However, many focus on one sector or another, whether it be residential, commercial or industrial with a few providing services in all three.
One such company that caters of all is the subject of this month’s article as we profile Tyrone base Mimnagh Contracts and speak to managing director Adrian Mimnagh about the many services that they provide.
Not only do Mimnagh Contracts provide an array of services, but they operate throughout Ireland and the U.K.
Their ever-increasing portfolio shows projects carried out at many locations across the 32 counties, while the services provided are diverse to say the least.
First, Adrian gives us an insight into the background of the company which was established eighteen years ago.
“I would have served my time as a plasterer before going out on my own in 2002. I was just plastering for about seven or eight years until 2009 or ’10 when I started to take on some small demolition jobs as the plastering was getting quiet. This was when the recession was beginning to hit,” stated Adrian.
“One job led to another and we started to grow that side of the business, while still doing whatever plastering work that we could pick up. This kept us going through the difficult times. We got a lot of demolition work in Dublin around that time and we grew from there.”
These days, their services include KRend, Sto and Weber plastering, external wall insulation, new builds, extensions and renovations, groundworks and demolition, pyrite remediation, brick façade and blockwork.
“We are very busy at the moment with a number of projects ongoing. I would employ ten direct, many of who are there years now, while we would use a good core of subbies who are guys that have been doing work for us for a lot of years now and these are people that I know will do excellent work, while they know the level of work that I expect from them.”
In recent times, Mimnagh Contracts have added the Safe-T cert to their list of accreditations as well as becoming members of the CIF, which Adrian revealed has its benefits.
“Having the CIF logo and being members of it certainly has its benefits, it gives the customer the peace of mind in the knowledge that we are component builders who will get the job done to a very high standard.”
Adrian is passionate about his work and nothing but the best will suffice as he says himself, it is his reputation that is at stake, if the client is left unhappy.
“It is very important to work with the client every step of the way through a project and ensure they are happy with what is being done. I am always just a phone call away if they have any concerns, and I think many clients appreciate the personal touch.”
Mimnagh Contracts offer a full design and build service, turning the client’s idea into a reality, ensuring full project and site management for every project. They implement a structured approach to both residential and commercial projects with the correct management in place to deliver the project on time and within budget. When it comes to extensions and renovations, their vast knowledge shines through as they can provide everything from start to finish.

“K-Rend silicone renders form an attractive range of one coat application, which can be plastered directly onto block work. Renders come in 20 colours in both the silicone thin coat and silicone scraped texture.”
Adrian is pleased with the direction of the business at present, which is going from strength to strength despite the unpredictability of 2020.
“Fortunately, the construction industry has been largely unaffected by Covid-19. That is not to say we have been taking the necessary precautions to protect both our staff and clients, but workwise, the industry is going very well at the moment.”
Adrian knows that you are only as good as your last job in this industry and that is why he is adamant that they can’t afford to let their standards drop at any time.
“We have built a good reputation and the aim is to keep that going and try to improve on it where we can. Our ability to diversify has stood to us and the aim is to keep growing as much as we can.”
