When Cork-based civil engineering contractor, Rossmore Civils was contracted to carry out site development and access road works at Facebook’s new data centre in Clonee, they put their latest Komatsu machines to the task.
Recently, the company increased its 30-strong fleet of Komatsu units with the addition of five new PC138US-10 excavators – supplied by McHale Plant Sales, of whom Rossmore Civils is a long-term customer.
Some of the new excavators are operating at the Clonee project, with the remaining machines working at Dublin’s Poolbeg Incinerator site, where they are engaged to deliver a variety of civil engineering works including bulk excavation, trenching for ducting, drainage and fire-main installation.
In recent years Rossmore Civils has acquired a substantial plant presence to undertake site development, enabling works, large civil works, concrete works and finishes/landscaping over a wide geographic area. Notable recent projects include both Dublin and Cork airports, the M7 motorway, the N11 Arklow to Rathnew PPP and many top pharmaceutical developments.
Reflecting on his company’s history of using Komatsu products, Rossmore Civils Managing Director, John Curtin points to the build quality, fuel economy and reliability of the machines which when combined with the ‘exceptional’ level of aftersales service received from McHale proves to be a successful combination.
“Komatsu make a quality machine that delivers on both performance and reliability. Also crucial in our business is the relationship we enjoy with the distributor. McHale Plant Sales are in tune with our requirements and if we need a part or a specific service, we know we will get it promptly,” he says.
Founded in 2008, Rossmore Civils employs over 120 staff, serving a nationwide customer base with a strong focus on the pharmaceutical and FDI sectors.
Based in Little Island, Cork, the company is a registered member of CIRI and has been awarded the ISO 9001 standard for quality management, the ISO 18001 standard for health and safety management and the ISO 14001 standard for Environmental Management.
