As one of Ireland’s premier design and installation contractor for Air Conditioning Systems, Brian Scully Services has been propelled into the frontline as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and has met this challenge head-on. We touched base with MD Kevin Scully to get an update on this progressive, vastly-experienced air conditioning and ventilation specialist.
Brian Scully Services has established itself as the market leader in Ireland when it comes to air conditioning / ventilation systems, providing bespoke solutions to countless satisfied clients nationwide.
Headquartered in Newcastle West in County Limerick but with strategic bases in Dublin and Cork, the industry-leading business has been experiencing steady growth year on year.
The company is imbued with a strong team-work ethos. Experienced, dedicated and motivated staff play a huge role in the success of the company.
“Between our bases in Dublin, Cork and Limerick, we directly employ almost 40 people, plus subcontractors. I couldn’t speak highly enough of the staff. Our head of sales, Toby Quaid, has been with us or more than 25 years and his experience and knowledge are second to none having joined the company as an apprentice – it’s an incredible achievement for anybody to rise up through the ranks as he has. We also have several service engineers and office staff that have been with the team for over 20 years” Kevin notes. “The staff are definitely our greatest asset and their contribution to the success of the business is immeasurable.
Kevin himself joined the family business as an apprentice and has I experienced all aspects of the business from the roots up.
Ongoing investment in all aspects of the business is a prerequisite to keep Brian Scully Services at the top of their game.
With the need for a generous flow of high-quality fresh air in indoor settings deemed more critical than ever now – their professional products and services have never been in keener demand nor more firmly in the spotlight. “This Pandemic has presented its own set of challenges to everybody and, as air conditioning and ventilation contractors, we found ourselves doing an increased amount of work in hospital and healthcare settings as well as in the financial sector and other locations where people were deemed essential workers.”
“For example, we did a lot of work in vital laboratories, which were deemed highly essential in the fight against Covid, where we designed and installed air conditioning systems”
“In many cases, we improved the existing systems by offering means of increasing volumes of fresh air being delivered while still maintaining comfort levels.”
All of a sudden, the key services provided by Brian Scully Services were deemed critical… “Yes, we were considered an essential provider,” Kevin confirms. “With the sudden requirement for extra laboratories and hospital wards we worked closely to ensure all installations were completed as quickly as possible. As well as new installations, we had to continue to maintain and service existing systems not only in the healthcare sector, but in all other essential premises including the Financial Sector and Food Production Industries. While computers can’t catch Covid they still have to be kept running and so the requirement to maintain temperatures in Comms Rooms is as important as ever”
The unrivalled experience and expertise of Brian Scully Services is such that there is nobody else in Ireland who can match them when it comes to optimising the deliverance of cost-effective and comfortable levels of quality air into any room or building, large or small.
Brian Scully Services was Ireland’s first approved Business Solutions Partner for Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning and also carry the distinction of being a Diamond Partner of Mitsubishi Electric Ireland, which allows them to provide a seven-year warranty with all installations.
While they predominantly install Mitsubishi Electric systems, they service and maintain all other manufacturers and can source any spare parts required. Their exemplary track record and high volume of repeat business speaks for itself. “We are acutely aware of the expectations of our customers and strive to consistently deliver quality solutions,” Kevin continues. “We are in business 34 years and have built strong lasting relationships with many long-term customers.
“We carry out site surveys for any size project, be it for one unit or 500 units. Either myself or Toby will meet with the customer, discuss the requirements and what options are available to them. We will follow the progression of the project to completion to ensure quality installation and customer satisfaction”
“There are innovative new products coming on stream all the time and we are always available to discuss these with clients. One worth mentioning in the current climate is Wellisair – an air and surface disinfection purifier, which for example can be simply placed on a desk and it will sanitise the air and keep surfaces disinfected.
“Covid has certainly highlighted the need for excellent air quality in schools and offices, which is what we have always strived to provide. In the school setting, air quality is going to be paramount for staff, children and parents. Offices will undoubtably come under scrutiny as staff return to the workplace. It is not acceptable to continue in an environment where fresh air is being provided by leaving windows open on a permanent basis when there exists a simple solution of installation of heat recovery system”
While the economy is in a somewhat volatile place due to the pandemic and restrictions imposed over a prolonged period, Brian Scully Services remains in a strong position going forward.
