Based in Daingean, Co. Offaly, Teknabuild is a registered trading name of Smyth Project Management Ltd which was set up by Roger Smyth in March 2018 and joined in 2019 by business partner and Project Director Sean Reilly.
As well as holding degrees in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, Roger boasts a wealth of experience in the construction trade, having worked for building and quantity surveying giants such as McAleer & Rushe, Sisk, Elliott Group, PM Group and O’Reilly Hyland Tierney & Associates in Dublin before deciding to go out on his own.
“I had grown tired of the long commute every day, so when the opportunity came along to carry out the full revamp of Scully’s XL Foodstore here beside me in Daingean, we took it,” Roger explains.
“We took on a very challenging structural project to create the space and open plan design Enda and Mary Scully wanted before handing it over in December 2019. We made significant structural alterations, resulting in a large deli area, butcher’s counter, off licence, post office, cold room / freezer room, coffee dock, seating area and 4,500 sq. ft. of shop floor. That was a great start for us and we’ve gone from strength to strength ever since.”
Teknabuild has since designed and built cleanrooms and Lab’s for key clients in Kells, Co. Meath, Athlone and Kilbeggan (both Co. Westmeath). The Kells project involved the installation of a 15,000 sq. ft. controlled environment / cleanroom in a manufacturing facility. Roger and his team used the Kingspan KS1100 CS Quadcore Ultratemp Food Grade cleanroom / cold-room system to create a production hall where the humidity can be controlled.
“We specialize in projects for the medical and food industries, and ensure we deliver the perfect solution for a controlled environment,” the affable managing director says.
“But we don’t confine ourselves to any one sector and have the experience and know-how to act as main contractors on any kind of job. I have experience of working on hotels, leisure centres, data centres and heavy civils, while our project director, Sean Reilly, who is a carpenter/cabinetmaker by trade, has worked as a facilities manager in the past for Airtricity and Mitie while also specializing in commercial office and shop fit-out. Between us, we have the skillset, ability and expertise to deliver any project to your exact requirements.”
Teknabuild is currently working on residential projects in Tullamore, Co. Offaly and Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath among other things, and is focused on growing its commercial and industrial portfolios in the coming months.
