Established in July 2017 by Tony Kilbane and Damian Fahy, Kwik Floor Screed is an approved installer of Cemfloor Liquid Screed. Based in The Neale, Co. Mayo and Collooney, Co. Sligo, the company provides quality floor screed services to residential and commercial clients in the Connacht region.
With over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, Tony and Damian bring an attitude of professionalism and competence to every job. They have laid countless floors over the years and guarantee a quality service and product, making sure that every project is completed to the highest standard.
Health & Safety is at the core of the business, and never more so than after the Covid-19 pandemic. The liquid screed solutions specialist’s ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from satisfied customers.
“Our aim is to provide the best and most cost-effective service on the market,” Tony says.
“We pour liquid screed floors mostly in the private residential sector, but also in the commercial sector. No job is too big or too small. Our knowledge of the trade gives us a competitive edge.”
Liquid screed is becoming increasingly popular as the move towards underfloor heating systems and energy efficiency continues apace. There are many benefits to liquid screed, including ease of installation, greater insulation, quicker drying times, fast strengthening and no shrinkage. When used in conjunction with underfloor heating, liquid screed really comes into its own.
Due to its form, it can flow around the pipes, filling in the spaces around joins and gaps which would otherwise be tricky to deal with when using other screeds. The lack of gaps means that heat is distributed more evenly, resulting in greater thermal efficiency.
Kwik Floor Screed has been an approved installer of Cemfloor Liquid Screed from McGrath’s Limestone (Cong) Ltd since its inception. Cemfloor is a high-performance cement-based, free-flowing, self-compacting liquid screed. It is BBA approved and suitable for a variety of applications, both domestic and commercial. The product boasts exceptional thermal conductivity of up to 2.9W/mk and is very suitable and responsive to underfloor heating due to the fact it can be laid in very thin sections. This ensures lower energy bills and running costs.
“Cemfloor is the liquid screed of choice for contractors and architects looking for a high-performance, low-maintenance cement-based liquid screed product. It is the easiest way to screed your domestic or commercial flooring,” Tony points out.
From architect to homeowner, applicator to channel partner, Cemfloor insists on offering the right level of support to each one of its customers. Specifiers are assured that Cemfloor is a tested and trustworthy product. Channel partners of Cemfloor benefit from the stringent in-house testing which removes the responsibility of on-site pre-validation, making their processes quicker and simpler.
Cemfloor is chosen for its innovation and reliability. With five ranges, developed for everything from underfloor heating to extensive commercial projects requiring performance flexural strength, Cemfloor fits into your project and works for your timelines.
Business is booming for the two-man operation whose only tools are two Brinkmann pumps and two vans. “We’ve always been busy, thankfully. Everyone involved in construction is feeling the effects of rising material costs, but you just have to get on with it,” Tony adds.
Clients of Kwik Floor Screed include Beckett Developments, EJ Deasy Contractors, GBCE (Gibbons Building & Civil Engineering) and Kenaidan Contractors. Outside of McGrath’s, Kerrigan Quarries in Dromahair, Co. Leitrim is its other main supplier. Current / recent projects completed by Kwik Floor Screed include The Meadows, which is a 19-unit housing development in Westport, Anam Croí House Wellbeing Centre in Westport, Ashford Castle Leisure Centre and HSE Health Care Centre in Claremorris.
“You’re only as good as your last job in this business,” Tony stresses.
“It’s all about maintaining high standards and giving each project the time and care it deserves. We treat all of our customers the same, regardless of their size. You’d never know what might come from doing a job for a small customer. We have always found ‘word of mouth’ to be the best form of advertisement.
“We’ve had five very good years in business and are hoping that will continue into 2023 when we’ll be trying new innovative products. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and suppliers for their continued support,” he concludes.
