RGN makes its mark

22 Jun , 2023

Established in 2018 by Richie Nevin, RGN Electrical & Communications Ltd has enjoyed a meteoric rise which was recognised by its success at the 2022 County Kildare Chamber Business Awards.

The Naas-based electrical contractor was honoured with the ‘Best Emerging Business’ Award at the gala event on November 24 last in The Killashee House where 500 key stakeholders and companies celebrated the best in business in Kildare in 2022. The ‘Best Emerging Business’ category is open to member companies that are five years old or less and is an excellent showcase for up-and-coming companies to gain recognition within the business community.

“We were delighted to win the award,” enthuses Richie. “We were up against stiff competition and it’s a great recognition for our business and top-class team who have driven our growth and success through very challenging times.”

While RGN is still a relatively new company, Richie has many years’ electrical / communications experience, 11 of which were spent in Australia. He was working in a senior management role for another electrical contractor when he decided to go out on his own. Since then, RGN has grown to employ circa 30 people, has a fleet of vans covering most of Ireland, and boasts a wide and varied client-base.

“I set up the business in late 2018 and went full-time at it the following year,” the affable Clane man explains.

“I’ve no regrets. It’s no longer a 9-5 job, but when you have good people around you like I do, it makes your job so much easier. I’m very lucky to have loyal staff who are very familiar with our customers and their needs.

“Our focus as an employer in providing continuous development opportunities and progression within the company has been a key contributor to our business growth and success, demonstrated in our very low staff turnover.

“Our home-grown leadership team and planned, ongoing investment in the development of our workforce underpin our business development strategy, playing a vital role in supporting the business as we move to the next stage of our growth.”

Specialising in industrial, commercial, educational and communication installation, the Safe Electric-registered contractor is committed to delivering continual excellence and ensuring that every project it undertakes is of the highest standard and is completed on time and within budget. The company’s aim is not to be the biggest, but to be the best in the electrical and communications industry. It is committed to fostering a culture in which Project quality and Health & Safety becomes a lifestyle choice.

All RGN’s electricians and communication technicians are carefully picked, and work closely with Richie and his senior management team to deliver to client expectations and beyond. Richie takes a hands-on approach to all projects delivered by RGN. The company prides itself on creativity, quality and customer service, and is always on hand to deliver complex projects and respond to your needs.

The Kildare contractor provides a comprehensive service for all aspects of the electrical and communications industry, covering small, medium, and large-scale projects. RGN provides full design and electrical installation packages to many projects.

Richie and his team have a wealth of experience in installing street lighting, car park lighting, feature lighting and smart lighting across a broad range of sectors, including commercial, educational, retail, hotels, restaurants and healthcare.

RGN bases its business model and staff around high-end commercial fitout and modular electrical installations. It has an innate understanding of how to deliver fast-paced fitouts, while respecting and not impeding operational work areas. If you are looking for a turnkey electrical fitout, you’ve come to the right place!

“We’re very busy with educational contracts,” Richie continues.

“We’re currently working on some nice Projects in UCD, an extension to Coláiste Phádraigh in Lucan and an ASD unit in a School in Louth. We’ve also completed ASD unit works in St Patrick’s Secondary School, Limerick, and St Killian’s School in Cork. We’re doing a lot of modular school projects, one of which was Gorey Educate Together where we provided the full Electrical package.

“Looking ahead, we have a healthy portfolio of projects on our books for 2023 and 2024 and a very strong project delivery team, to see us through this busy period.”

As his company continues to go from strength to strength, Richie would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients and suppliers for their support as well as his staff and sub-contractors for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
