Allen Cranes Ltd is a leading crane hire and sales company based in Blessington, Co. Wicklow. “Robbie and Alan have been working in the crane industry for 34 and 25 years respectively,” explains Allen Cranes operations manager Philip Conway.
“Anything to do with cranes and lifting, we have it covered. Our business is split 70/30 between hire and sales. We have a nationwide customer-base and work for all the main contractors. Our location is key. We’re 35 minutes from the city centre and avail of lots of opportunities on this side of Dublin in Tallaght, CityWest on so on.
“We pride ourselves on our top-class service and ability to complete projects on time and within budget,” adds Philip, who is also a director of United Lifting Gear, a subsidiary, which specialises in labour supply, hoists and other lifting equipment.
Specialising in Saez and Terex Comedil cranes, Allen Cranes has a wide range of tower, self-erect and crawler cranes for sale and hire. The company also offers a specialised crane consultancy service in the buying and selling of cranes both nationally and internationally, and provides an unrivalled back-up service. Furthermore, Allen Cranes provides valuable guidance and advice on the purchase, right through to the delivery of the crane to your chosen site location.
“We have crawlers up to 160 tonnes and specialise in heavy lift tower cranes,” Philip says.
“There is a high demand for big lifters with 60m radius due to a labour shortage in the construction industry. We have a large fleet of heavy lift tower cranes which we can deliver nationwide. We have our own heavy haulage fleet, Robert Allen Plant Hire, of six artics that can deliver anywhere.
“We currently have six tower cranes working on a large precast project for Walls Construction in the Shankill / Shanganagh area of south Co. Dublin. We have cranes working in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick at the moment. We don’t hire self-erect cranes – we only sell them.
“Our job is to provide top-quality cranes that are fit for purpose. Our programme is all about the delivery, installation and removal of cranes, all in a safe manner. We have strategies for lifting projects and working alongside main contractors from an early stage when we provide drawings and proposals.
“We work out what’s best for the project and collaborate with the client to ensure it runs smoothly. If you do that successfully, they’ll come back to you time and time again. Our mission is to be a one-stop shop for all your crane hire and sales needs.”
As well as specialising in the erection and dismantling of all crane models, the Co. Wicklow operation provides maintenance, repairs, service and parts; certification of all plant machinery; transport from low loader, escort vehicle to artic, tipper, hiab lorries; cranage and secure yard and container storage; and refurbishment, including supply of paint, collection and delivery of the crane.
