Founded just before the Covid-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill in 2020, A O’Connell Developments has grown into one of the most versatile building and civil engineering firms in the Mid-West.
Based in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, the multi-faceted company is fronted by local man Alan O’Connell. He is joined by a 16-strong team of skilled professionals who are dedicated to their craft. They, in turn, are supported and supplemented by carefully chosen subcontractors. A O’Connell Developments also enjoys an excellent working relationship with its suppliers and design teams.
Catering for both the public and private sectors, A O’Connell Developments specialises in everything from new builds, renovations, extensions and conservation projects to civil, road, marine works and plant hire. It has an array of excavators and machinery to carry out civil works quickly and efficiently, all of which are maintained and upgraded on a regular basis to avoid breakdowns and downtime.
Outstanding workmanship, attention to detail and value-for-money, coupled with an unwavering commitment to Health & Safety and working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction, are the hallmarks of the business. From concept to completion, Alan and his team are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs, and to the highest standard.
No matter what your project is, A O’Connell Developments’ one-stop shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and hassle-free. The West Limerick contractor’s reputation for high quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from scores of satisfied customers.
By employing highly-skilled people, working closely with subcontractors, engineers and architects, and using only the very best building products, this fully-insured company is able to deliver projects that not only meet, but exceed expectations.
“After an uncertain and challenging beginning caused by the pandemic, the company has flourished under Alan’s leadership,” says contracts manager Brian Collins.
“We are currently on frameworks of three local authorities – Limerick City & County Council, Kerry County Council and Cork County Council – and have forged strong relationships with them as well as with our other clients. We take a collaborative approach to every job which makes it easier for everyone.
“One of our greatest strengths is our versatility. We offer a wide range of services and can deliver projects that other contractors shy away from. We love a challenge and take great pride in our work.
“Furthermore, we offer very competitive quotes and are well-known for our quick timescales. Our projects are finished to the highest standards as we go that little bit further to cater for our customers’ needs.
“Our ability to tailor our services to the changing needs of our clients has made us what we are today.”
A O’Connell Developments is currently constructing 11 new modular welfare units consisting of a kitchen and bathroom area at Hillview Park – a halting site in Rathkeale – for Limerick City & County Council. The project, which aims to provide new housing for residents of the halting site, also consists of hard landscaping, extending concrete paving areas on each bay, bin stores, upgrading asphalt on the entrance road, new asphalt areas to improve access and upgrading of services. It commenced in February and is due to be completed in June. The units are supplied by another local company, FitzMac, who offer a wide range of rapid-build modular building products for both the commercial and residential sectors.
Recently-completed projects include safety improvement works at Finnegan’s Cross outside Killarney for Kerry County Council, Glenahulla School remediation works for Department of Education, and conservation and rehabilitation works to three cottages in Askeaton for Limerick City & County Council.
“We are centrally located as far as carrying out works for Limerick City & County Council, Kerry County Council and Cork County Council is concerned. Abbeyfeale is on the Limerick-Kerry border, so we’re in a great location from that point of view,” adds Brian.
As A O’Connell Developments continues to go from strength to strength, Alan would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as his expert team for their hard work and dedication.
Here’s to the next five years and many more!
