Despite being a relatively new company, AB Access Scaffolding Ltd has established itself as a leading contract scaffolding and temporary access solutions provider. The Cork-based company is at the forefront of delivering scaffolding services to the industrial, commercial and residential sectors.
AB Access Scaffolding Ltd was founded by managing director Brian Rodgers, who has over 25 years’ experience in the scaffold industry. Brian has travelled the length and breadth of the country working on high-end scaffolding projects and has also worked offshore on gas rigs. His reputation for service, professionalism and safety made him a sought-after name within the industry which in turn has allowed him to make his company the success it is today.
AB Access Scaffolding Ltd operates in the industrial, commercial and residential sectors with industrial and commercial work each accounting for 40 per cent of business and residential accounting for the remaining 20 per cent. Employing 50 staff both directly and indirectly, the company specialises in contract scaffolding and temporary access solutions. As access solution professionals, the contractor is able to take on intricate work that others shy away from.
Recently, Derrick Enright joined the company as general manager. He is also a well-known name within the industry and is the current Chairman of the NASAC (National Association of Scaffolding and Access Contractors). The combined experience of Brian, Derrick and their team of top-class scaffolders ensures a service which is second to none. They insist on a working partnership with their clients and provide the same level of service to all clients, regardless of the size of their project.
“The reason why our clients keep coming back to us for all their scaffolding requirements is down to the fact that we approach every job, no matter how big or small in the same manner with safety being paramount at all times” says Brian.
“What makes us stand out from the rest is without doubt our quality, service, safety, efficiency and professionalism. Our work is secured on this basis. Building contractors look for us to work with them and that’s a credit to all the staff at AB Access Scaffolding Ltd. They take great pride and satisfaction in what they do. From the man in the yard making sure he gets out the right kit to the man putting it up and making sure it is done safely and competently, to those in the office that put the procedures in place to allow all of this to happen, it’s a well-oiled machine.”
“Where some companies go out to build up clients, we prefer to build relationships.” says Derrick.

“Our aim is to continue this into the future. We do not necessarily want to be the biggest, but we do want to be one of the best,” Brian adds.
Derrick’s involvement in the NASAC puts AB Access Scaffolding Ltd in a position where it is involved in the re-writing of the new Code of Practice for the scaffolding industry. This sets out to implement new and improved scaffolding procedures as well as being part of a new project to create a scaffold apprenticeship in conjunction with all the governing bodies, including the CIF, Solas, Laois-Offaly ETB and HSA.
“We pride ourselves on service and competence and believe the reference that anyone can give us is a recommendation to do the next contract. So far that policy has done us well.”
