Headquartered in Navan, County Meath, Greenline Plumbing Supplies recorded a magnificent double at the 2022 United in Excellence Awards, where they were named Best Heating & Plumbing Store in Leinster before also collecting the prestigious overall Best Heating & Plumbing Store in Ireland award.
Since its genesis in July, 2017, Greenline Plumbing Supplies has successfully combined a comprehensive range of high quality products with unbeatable service levels to create the ultimate customer experience. This is why, in little over five years, the business has become firmly established as one the leading plumbing and heating suppliers covering Meath, Cavan and surrounding counties.
The industry-leading, value-added services consistently delivered to customers by Greenline Plumbing Supplies have seen them regularly win major industry awards and this was the case again on Thursday night, October 6th, 2022, when hardware and builders merchant stores from across the country were recognised for retail excellence at third annual United In Excellence Awards at the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan.
True to form, the Greenline Plumbing Supplies team took home not one but two coveted awards on the night, having been named as the Best Heating & Plumbing Store in both Leinster and Ireland – due recognition of their success in providing customers with the best service and product range at the keenest prices.
“It was really nice to get this recognition and taking home both the provincial and national awards on the night shows that we are doing something right,” reflects co-founder and director Ray Purfield, who established Greenline alongside David Bates and Colm McMahon. “Myself and Colm attended the awards ceremony and we travelled up hopeful that we might get the Leinster one. We were delighted to get that but had only just returned to our chairs when we were called again, which was a great surprise.
“Awards like this are down to your staff. Winning them is obviously good publicity and a great endorsement of the quality of your team. They can see that their efforts are being recognised and that’s good for morale right across the business. I know they deserve this recognition and I’m very pleased that they got it.”
Fronted by three men with vast experience of the plumbing and heating sector, Greenline Plumbing Supplies was born out of the idea that customer service and product quality are the two most important factors needed to generate repeat business and deliver customer satisfaction. Coupled with great prices, this had proven to be an unbeatable combination.
From a bag of fittings delivered to site on schedule or the more complex task of designing entire heating or renewable energy systems, Greenline Plumbing Supplies – voted Merchant of the Year at Ireland’s Plumbing and Heating Awards in 2019 – invariably deliver a quick turnaround on every project large or small, catering for any situation whether it be a housing scheme, apartment block, sanitary ware, rubber rings for taps, gas / oil boilers, heat pumps, solar panels or general advice.
Ray, David, Colm and their team boast a wealth of knowledge gained through decades of experience working in the hardware and plumbing and heating trade. “We started off with just two employees in Navan and today we have a staff of eleven in Navan plus another six in our Cavan store [Unit 2, Corlurgan Business Park, Ballinagh Road], which we opened in early 2020.
“Our team are experienced, knowledgeable and multi-skilled and they are the heart and soul of the business. They all know plumbing and heating inside-out, which is why plumbers like dealing with us. You couldn’t get better than Donal, Alan and Jason here in Navan, while David, Liam and Padraig manage the Cavan store, which has been a huge success since it opened, and caters for customers from all over Cavan and surrounding counties.”
Does the extraordinary success of Greenline Plumbing Supplies since its inception during the summer of 2017 more than vindicate the brave and bold move of its owners to go out on their own and – in an already congested market – set up a brand-new plumbing supplies business from scratch?
“It has worked out very well,” says Ray. “We were very confident that there was an opening in Meath for a service-focussed business, but I’d still have to admit that it has taken off quicker than we imagined. From the beginning, the three of us had the conviction and determination to give it a real go, and thankfully that has paid off.
“It just proves that service really is everything. In my opinion, it all comes down to service. There’s no point being the best in town on price if you can’t get products out to your customers for three or four days. We make it our business to get everything out on site immediately. We have two vans with tail-lifts, a jeep and a couple of cars and no stone is left unturned to get everything out to our customers as quickly as we can.
“As well as Meath, we also now cover sites in Dublin, Wicklow, Louth and Kildare from Navan and you could be delivering supplies for up to 20 houses at a time.
“We cover absolutely everything from a tap washer to heat pumps and solar panels. Renewables have really taken off, although I’d be critical of the government for putting such a big push on it and not backing that up with proper support and advice.
“They announced that everybody should switch from oil to heat pumps but the reality is that fitting a heat pump is a waste of time and money if the house isn’t B-rated for energy at the very least. People need to know this and we are here to give advice to members of the public as well as the trade. It’s all part of the service.”
Conveniently located just off the M3 motorway, Greenline Plumbing Supplies are opened from 7am until 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am until 1pm on Saturdays. A vast supply of products is carried in stock at all times, ready for immediate delivery, with the award-winning levels of service for which Greenline Plumbing Supplies are renowned guaranteed every time.
