Cookstown based Beckett Roofing Services Ltd were formed in November 2009 by highly experienced pair Kieran O’Neill and Damien McCann and, in a very short space of time, has developed a reputation for quality service. Building Ireland found out more recently from Kieran O’Neill, who holds one half of the company’s ownership.
Last year saw Beckett Roofing Services Ltd having one of its busiest years to date and the plan is to keep the good times rolling having marked their 10th anniversary last November.
The company was set-up by Kieran O’Neill and Damien McCann – both of whom had the vision to grow a venture to specialise in hard metal roofing & cladding and Sika Trocal flat roofing.
Now, over a decade later, Beckett Roofing Services Ltd leads the way when it comes to specialist roofing services throughout Ireland, as well as across to the UK on occasion.
For Kieran himself, his company’s rise has been satisfying to watch off the back of such hard work by all involved.
Building Ireland caught up with the man himself recently to learn all about it.
“We’re based between our head office here in Cookstown, Co Tyrone and our fabrication facility outside Newry and the company is established since November 2009,” Kieran outlined.
“Altogether we have a dedicated staff and myself and Damien McCann are the two partners in the company.
“We supply and fit Sika Trocal roofing products and Copper, Zinc and Aluminium roofing and cladding all over Northern Ireland, the Republic and over to the UK as well.”

Beckett Roofing can also offer bespoke decorative aluminium products such as cappings, fascia, soffit and rainwater goods. All aluminium products can be powder coated to the client’s exact colour specification.
The business has come a long way from when Kieran and Damien decided to start up in what was a difficult time for the Irish construction industry, but, nonetheless, things have been on the up ever since.
“Beckett Roofing itself was born out of another company and once the economic downturn hit, myself and Damien took it over from there,” said Kieran.
“Things were definitely tough at that time but we knew that we had the experience. We’d 30 years experience in the industry between us and we had worked with clients and suppliers all over Northern Ireland, so we felt confident going in despite the effect the recession was having.”
The rest, as they say, is history and today Beckett Roofing Services has never been busier with projects in all different parts of the country.
“Our order book is in rude health, we’ve taken on new staff recently and overall things are looking good,” Kieran beamed.
“Of course, the effects of Brexit looms large on the horizon and it’s hard to predict how this will affect both the construction industry in general and our own company, but for now things are going well”
“We get a lot of repeat business and many of our clients have been with us since the beginning. These relationships are very important for our business and the continued support of clients has played no small part in the company’s steady growth”
So what has been the secret to success since starting up in ’09?
According to Kieran, experience on previous projects has certainly played it part, but two aspects in particular have contributed greatly to the rise of Beckett Roofing Services.
“Firstly we are able to offer great products from industry leading suppliers. Over the years we have developed excellent relationships with our suppliers and this allows us to keep abreast of new products, developments and innovations in our particular sector,” he said.
“Secondly, we take great pride in our site teams. They have played a huge role in our success to date. We are lucky to have a highly skilled, experienced and motivated staff. They are always eager to learn and develop and in partnership with our suppliers they receive regular training in new products and installation techniques.”
Looking to the months ahead for his company, Kieran concluded: “We hope to continue to grow the business and look forward to undertaking and completing projects for our clients both old and new. The construction industry can be a turbulent one but we will take on whatever challenges the industry and in particular Brexit may throw at us.”
