Ladden Construction is a third-generation family-run building contracting firm which has been in business for over 60 years. Based in Castlemaine, Co. Kerry, it is a medium-sized company providing a high standard of workmanship in a professional and efficient manner.
Headed up by Tony, Ladden Construction enjoys an excellent working relationship with its clients, architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and more. The company is fully insured with all of its work being completed in strict accordance with current building regulations and health & safety standards. It is CIRI certified and has a dedicated team of construction staff, including project managers and quantity surveyors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Over the years, Ladden Construction has completed many projects such as renovations and extensions for all building types, new build houses and commercial buildings, bar and restaurant fit-outs and industrial maintenance. The company is, and has been, main contractors on a number of industrial, commercial, semi-state and educational projects. It assigns a project manager to all of its projects and prides itself on quality, dedication, professionalism and an ability to fulfil the client’s expectations.

Examples of Ladden Construction’s work can be found all over the Kingdom and beyond. Last year, it carried out a complete refit, refurbishment and construction of the beauty therapy suite at Block E, South Campus, Clash, IT Tralee on behalf of the Kerry Educational Training Board (Kerry ETB). Ladden’s had previously completed separation and refurbishment works at Tralee Community College for the same client.
Ladden Construction also completed a full refurbishment of the historic Clancy’s Bar in Cork city late last year and is currently adding a large extension to Keane’s SuperValu in Killorglin, which is owned by Kerry football manager Peter Keane. Tony Ladden and his team have also recently completed renovations and alterations to a new Centra store in New Street, Killarney and an extension to a Centra store and garage on Muckross Road, Killarney, both of which are owned by the Sheahan Family. In addition, the company has undertaken retail fit-outs for the Aran Sweater Market Stores in Killarney, Kenmare and Kinsale as well as the ongoing maintenance and alterations to the distribution centre and offices in Killarney, not to mention the complete refurbishment of the Weavers of Ireland store.
Two of Ladden Construction’s outstanding commercial projects were the Randles Brothers Car Showroom in Killarney and the JRI Building in Tralee. The project for Randles Brothers Ltd consisted of the demolition of part of the existing workshop and car showroom, construction of a new car showroom, including services, finishes and extensive site works.
The JRI project included the extensive renovation and alterations to the ground floor and first floor open plan office space which included a canteen, two communication rooms, relaxation pods and extensive ground and services works and the construction of a new backup generator building. All these works were carried out while maintaining the full operations of the building.
Ladden Construction has carried out renovation works to four well-known Killarney and Dingle pubs and restaurants – Reidy’s, Social 15, The Porterhouse and An Drocheid Beag – on behalf of the Sheahan Family. The Reidy’s project required an extensive strip out of all the fixtures and fitting, restoration and retro fitting, working closely with the conservation and fire officers, to ensure that the building kept its original charm whilst adhering to fire regulations.
Social 15 also required a complete strip out as well as a redesign of the layout and refit to accommodate three new bars and seating areas, toilets, storerooms, keg room and staff facilities. The Porterhouse project saw the restaurant extended and the bar, kitchen and storage areas renovated and extensive renovations were carried out to An Drocheid Beag’s four bars, nightclub area, toilets and smoking area,
In the pharmaceutical sector, Ladden Construction has enjoyed a fantastic working relationship with Temmler Ireland Ltd in Killorglin for over 20 years, being involved in the construction of all their onsite buildings, including the First Aid room, canteen, offices, laboratories, plant rooms, warehouses, tank farms and waste water facilities. Working closely with the facilities manager, it carries out the day-to-day civil and maintenance works along with building and roof inspections.
Ladden Construction has also worked extensively on healthcare / residential home facilities for Kerry Mental Health Association, Rehab Care, Newgrove Housing Association and Resilience Care. These projects required all the necessary fire upgrading works to internal walls and ceilings, electrical installation, including emergency lighting, fire alarm installation, nurse call system and upgrading of cabling to fire-rated walls, mechanical and plumbing works for new WC and shower rooms, replacement / upgrading internal and external doors and windows.
