Operating out of Foulksmills, Co Wexford, Heat Doc Ltd is a specialist registered installer of energy saving technologies. Building Ireland touched base with Managing Director Damien Mullins to learn all about the ins and outs of the business and the projects it’s currently immersed around the country’s south east region.
Business has been flourishing as of late for Wexford-based firm Heat Doc Ltd and the plan for co-founder Damien Mullins and rest of the company’s team is to keep things that way.
Currently employing 27 full-time staff, the heating, solar and geothermal specialist was set-up by Damien and Phyllis Mullins back in 2011 and has steadily grown year on year since.
Heat Doc Ltd today stands as a leading specialist registered installer of energy-saving technologies, including geothermal heat pumps, solar energy and heating solutions, such as underfloor heating, wall and ceiling heating and low temperature radiators.
Building Ireland caught up with Damien recently to learn more about the secret behind this venture’s success and the overall state of business for it at the moment.
“It’s busy, now is the time for renewables. Every project from new build to renovation includes a heat pump & Solar,” he outlined.
“It’s consistently busy in our sector. There’s a good outlook on projects coming on stream.”
Since ‘Day One’, Heat Doc Ltd have been advising and installing renewable low temperature heating solutions for commercial and residential customers
The company’s work sees it immersed in projects throughout the east and south east which is a mix of new private and social housing, heat pump retrofit in domestic and commercial properties.
“We decommission and remove oil and gas boilers in all kinds of properties and install heat pumps, including air to water but we also specialise in ground source. And have used that option on several projects throughout the years.”

From passive home and residential energy solutions to commercial and leisure, servicing and maintenance, and consultancy, the range of services which Heat Doc Ltd has on offer makes it the number one choice for its customers.
The company’s continued growth comes down to the fact that there is a strong demand out there for its services in the decarbonisation of the housing and commercial property stock. The likes of local County Councils in the south east and several housing agencies have been regular clients of the firm for many years now.
For Damien, there’s a trust that has been established over time and through the delivery of first-rate work time and time again.
“We’ve worked with the majority of our customers for a long time and because they’re getting busier, we’re getting busier,” stated the Wexford native.
“They tell other people about us and when we do the jobs, we do them properly. We don’t skimp on material quality and we don’t compromise on installation.
“We finish the project so that when it’s done, it’s finished right.”
As well as the 27 staff that are currently on its books, it has been common practice for Heat Doc Ltd to take on apprentices on a regular basis.
Damien is a firm believer in this approach and, at the time of writing, he had just added two new staff members to the team with hopes to add more again as the year unfolds.
As for 2024 as a whole, the company’s MD is very much optimistic for the months ahead and, all going well, he’s eager to add even more members to what is already a solid team down in the south east.
“We have a good number of quality projects on the books now for this year and plan to expand our experienced team.
“I think this year is going to be a good year to progress decarbonisation which needs to and will ramp up to meet the necessary targets set out by government for climate action.”
Two people that are hugely passionate about renewable energy solutions, Damien and Phyllis would like to take this opportunity to says a thank you to their clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as their team of top-class office staff, managers, heating engineers and plumbers for their hard work and dedication.
