Cavan-based Callaghan Electrical is celebrating a major milestone in 2026 as the company marks 30 years in business and surpasses 100 employees for the first time.
Founded in 1996, Callaghan Electrical has grown from a small local operation into a leading electrical contractor delivering electrical design, installation, and maintenance services across Ireland. The company operates in multiple sectors including residential, industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, heritage, education and public sector.
Managing Director Kieran Callaghan said the anniversary represents both a proud moment and an exciting launchpad for the future. “Reaching 30 years in business is a significant milestone for us. What makes it even more special is achieving it alongside breaking the 100-employee mark. That growth is down to the hard work, professionalism, and loyalty of our team, and the continued trust of our clients and partners across the country.”
He added: “We’ve built our reputation on quality, reliability, and long-term relationships. As we look to the future, we’re focused on continuing to innovate, invest in our people, and deliver high-quality electrical solutions across every sector we serve.”
The company’s continued growth is reflected in recent major project completions and new contracts. Sample projects include the completion of a large-scale (82,000 sq.ft) electrical fitout in the pharmaceutical sector for PCI Pharma Services. Having previously completed 1000 apartment units at Adamstown Dublin for Elliott Group, Callaghan Electrical is currently delivering a further 330 apartment units at Adamstown. Locally in Cavan, the firm is delivering a 100,000 sq. ft. electrical package for a modern metal fabrication facility for Breffni Air.
In 2024, Callaghan Electrical became the first subcontractor in Ireland to secure funding under Enterprise Ireland’s ‘Built to Innovate’ initiative. Part of the governments ‘Housing for All’ programme, Callaghan Electrical secured funding due to its adoption and commitment to digitisation, innovation, and industry leadership in the electrical construction sector.
To support continued expansion, Callaghan Electrical has announced 10 new vacancies across electrical contracting roles for the remainder of 2026. The company is actively recruiting skilled electrical contracting professionals and operates an active apprenticeship programme, hiring locally in Cavan, Meath, Monaghan, Louth and Dublin.
“Breaking the 100-employee mark is just the beginning,” said Callaghan. “We’re investing heavily in our talent and our capabilities. We want ambitious people to grow their careers with us and be part of our next chapter.”
To mark the 30-year anniversary, the company hosted a dedicated staff appreciation day at Killygarry Sports Complex, with team-building activities facilitated by event management company, Dynamic Events. The day concluded with a staff barbeque evening at Hotel Kilmore. Awards and recognition presentations were presented to acknowledge service, leadership, teamwork, and outstanding contribution to the firms growth and success.
Padraig Reilly, who has worked for Callaghan Electrical for over 27 years, said: “It was a fantastic day and a great opportunity for everyone to step away from projects and spend time together. There’s a strong team spirit in the company, and events like this show that the work we do is genuinely appreciated.”
As Callaghan Electrical enters its fourth decade in business, the company remains committed to delivering best-in-class electrical solutions while continuing to grow sustainably and invest in innovation, safety, and workforce development.
“We’ve a strong order book, a growing team, and a clear strategic direction – our future looks bright and we are so proud to be one of Cavan’s – and Ireland’s – long-standing success stories”, added Callaghan.
Commenting on the firms anniversary, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise Niamh Smyth said, “I want to congratulate Kieran and his team on this wonderful achievement of 30 years in business.
