Based in Tullamore Co Offaly and Hazelbrook, Roscommon Callington Ltd are specialists in road recycling and surface dressing. Building Ireland contacted John Drea and Martin Conneally to learn a bit more about the company.
Established over 40 years ago by John and Mary Drea Callington now employ 25 full-time and a further 25 part-time staff.
Since the death of Johnny two years ago Mary, Eilis and John Drea along with Martin Conneally and Christy Redmond have kept Callingtons strong name and reputation up for supplying excellent service and quality of workmanship.
Callington specialise in road recycling, surface dressing and tarmacadam works and their reputation has seen them working in over 15 different counties for various county councils as well as many private contractors.
Having over 40-years’ experience in the road making business and 25 years in road recycling means they have built up an enviable reputation of excellence in their field which includes five road recycling crews. Each crew are capable of doing various types of works which may include dry or wet recycling and/or dbm as well as surface dressing.
Callingtons impressive fleet of machinery includes the following;
– six road recycling units.
– seven road graders.
– 11 pavers which capable of paving from 1.6m – 7.5 metres wide on a single pass and includes both wheeled and tracked pavers.
– 15 rollers varying from small to large steel drum as well as pneumatic rollers for surface dressing.
– Over 30 lorries ensure the crews aren’t kept waiting for materials or indeed to be moved from site to site with three artic lowloaders also included in their fleet. Various vacuum tankers, tractors, vans and welfare units and five modern Pheonix gritters capable of taking up to 5 metres in a single pass.
In addition to this they are awaiting two new steel drum and two new pneumatic rollers to add to this fleet of modern machinery as well as a new tar sprayer for surface dressing which is being built to order as we speak which will help the crews with timely turnover of work for the busy summer ahead.
Callingtons road recycling services ensures that roads and done at a very reasonable cost to the client on top as well as being environmentally friendly by reducing the amount of materials being used to make roads in comparison to traditional overlays thus reducing Co2 emissions.
