KCA Construction is renowned for providing clients in Waterford and throughout the South East with a complete turnkey new build service. We caught up with Managing Director Kevin Aylward who filled us in on his plans to expand into the Commercial and Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) markets.
A carpenter/joiner by trade, Kevin Aylward boasts over 25 years of experience in the construction industry.
Having gained invaluable experience in all aspects of the industry, he set up KCA Construction in 2014 and the company has gone from strength to strength ever since. With a growing list of satisfied customers and the majority of their work coming from client referrals and word of mouth, the business has become a very well respected and established company within the building community.
“It’s growing every year but Waterford is only really starting to get busy now,” Kevin replied when asked: how the company has evolved since its inception?
“Dublin has been booming for the last three or four years, we’re slowly growing but not at rapid rate. There has been a noticeable pick up in the South East region, particularly in the last few months since the lockdown.”
Kevin and his expanding team plus reliable sub-contractors work closely with their clients, from the planning stage right through to completion, to ensure that they deliver a high quality project.

At the time of speaking to Kevin, KCA Construction were hard at work on a retail unit in Newbridge, County Kildare.
“We’re basically revamping a derelict retail unit. We stripped 500 sq m of an asbestos roof and put a new Kingspan roof on it. We’ve gutted the whole building and turned it into a new retail shop. We’re also doing a lot of extensions and renovations locally as well.
“The majority of our work is domestic but, on the commercial end of things, we’re in with a company who have a chain of six retail shops. I’ve been doing all their maintenance and building work for the last year and a half or so and I am keen to expand that side of the business going forward.”
Another focus for future expansion for KCA Construction is the ever burgeoning Insulated Concrete Formwork market.
ICF is a modern construction method that is growing in popularity and becoming more prominent within the housing market.
The high quality of the end buildings as well as the lengthy benefits associated with ICF have made the general public become more familiar with this noteworthy building technique. When compared to more traditional building techniques, ICF stands out for its superior quality and comfort.
“It’s also great for the B.E.R rating on the house as well,” Kevin pointed out.
“We’re just getting into ICF now and recently completed our first ICF build, a big extension in Tramore, Co Waterford.
“The client asked me about it and it was something I was interested in. I went off and did a bit of research into it and we’re very happy with how the build went and, most importantly, so was the client. It’s an area of the business we hope to grow and get more involved in in the years ahead.”
In addition to the construction services already outlined, KCA Construction Ltd are well equipped to meet the demand of domestic and commercial clients with high quality carpentry services. They are experts in both first fix and second fix carpentry.
Looking ahead to the future, Kevin is optimistic that the company’s graph will continue on an upward trajectory. “I’m actually looking to recruit a couple more full-time employees at the moment,” he revealed.
