Established in 2012, Quality Building Materials (QBM) specialise in supplying a market leading range of roofing systems, materials and accessories designed to meet the specific requirements of roofing contractors, architects, engineers, builders and the DIY market. Building Ireland heard more on this expanding venture from director and co-founder David Fitzpatrick recently.
Since its inception, Quality Building Materials (QBM) has always taken pride in its three core commitments: Quality, Service and Value.
Today, the Dublin-based company is perhaps as busy as it has ever been as it’s currently supplying its materials to different projects in different sections of the country.
Along with the heady times it’s experiencing, QBM is also in the midst of an expansion which saw it moving into a 20,000 square foot premises in Baldoyle Industrial Estate at the tail end of last summer.
Now currently employing a dozen full-time staff, there are plans for further growth in its staff numbers and technical support over the coming months and indeed years.
Building Ireland touched base with business co-founder David Fitzpatrick to discuss the ins and outs of QBM – from its origins to the expansion plans it has on-going at the moment.
“The company itself is established since 2012 and we’re a specialist supplier to the Irish construction industry and mainly specialise in flat roofing systems and façade systems,” he outlined.
“Before we founded QBM, myself and my business partner were already working within the roofing industry and that’s how we came to find QBM.
“Business is good right now. We’re seeing a lot of growth in the modular sector especially, so it’s looking good at the moment.”
At the time of writing, the building supply specialist had been immersed in supplying its materials to the Merck pharmaceutical company in Cork for Deane Roofing & Cladding, while also continually supplying large amounts of modular products in the education sector.
Headed up by its Managing Director David Butler, QBM is a company which offers end to end solutions for clientele to meet their roofing requirements.
From its cutting-edge modular roofing systems to its innovative profiling service, the technical expertise, products, materials and accessories at the company will ensure that the client’s projects utilise industry leading materials backed by comprehensive warranties.
The QBM technical design team can support you from initial design concepts, specification, onsite installation and ongoing technical support as your project progresses.
“I think the reason that they choose us first ahead of others is because our technical service is very good,” said David when asked what separates the company from the competition out there.
“We supply the full package; insulation products and we source the highest quality products around the world which are globally recognised.
“We do a lot of training and onsite support here, which gives our customers a lot of confidence as well.”
This year has once again saw QBM’s feats recognised on a national scale after it was shortlisted in two different categories at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2025.
The company is up for the ‘Construction Product Innovation – Construction Product’ and ‘Construction Product Innovation – Building Fabric’ awards, which is set to see David and his colleagues in attendance on May 1st at the Convention Centre Dublin for the big occasion.
“Yeah, it’s a very nice honour for QBM. We’ll be there with our dickie bows on,” the co-founder said of the double award nomination.
Of course, as a company, QBM has been no stranger to award success over the past decade or so given its track record for delivering the best quality materials to high-end projects.
As one of the country’s leaders in the supply of high-performance Roofing and Facade systems across both Ireland and the UK, the Dublin firm’s high-performance systems are BBA, EOTA, FM Global and LEED and BREEAM certified which makes them the ideal solution for a client’s next construction project.
As well as this, QBM have always understood the investment into projects, which is exactly why it works with clients to deliver the best solution for their project within the required budget.
It’s also a business which is investing in its own long-term future, having acquired Unit 81A at Baldoyle Industrial Estate in Dublin 13 for €2.4m in August of last year.
The unit is a detached industrial/warehouse which has an office facility and a large side yard and car parking at the business premises.
With all of this, as well as boasting its own technical design team and on-site training facilities these days, QBM has come a long way in a dozen years and the growth looks set to continue.
“We’re expanding at the moment and have just recently moved into a new premises in Baldoyle Industrial Estate which is 20,000 square feet,” said David.
“So, we’re hoping to bring a lot more innovative construction materials to the Irish market. That’s part of our expansion plans and that’s where we see where growth would be coming from – our new premises, new staff and technical support.”
He added: “We had been in Baldoyle Industrial Estate before the move to this new premises as well, but it was a much smaller unit. So, now we’ve a lot more space for expansion and growth and we’re quite excited about what the future brings.”
Fantastic to hear.
