Concrete pumping specialists delivering a solid foundation and cementing relationships

Over the past three decades, GS Concrete Pumping has built a reputation for reliability, professionalism and personal service. Building Ireland spoke with Brendan Sheridan (co-director) to learn more about the inner workings of this family-run business, the types of projects it handles and what he believes sets it apart from the competition.

When Gerry Sheridan first set-up his concrete venture 33 years ago, his vision was clear: he wanted to operate a company renowned not just for delivering a service, but for consistently providing work of exceptional quality that customers could trust.

Over the years, that vision has expanded and evolved, yet the core values of reliability, customer focus, and personal service have remained at the heart of GS Concrete Pumping’s operations.

Today, the company is a trusted supplier of ready-mix concrete, mini mix concrete, concrete boom pump services, and concrete pump hire across Leinster, servicing both residential and commercial clients.

Operating out of Maynooth, Co Kildare, with an additional plant premises in Blessington, Co Wicklow, GS Concrete Pumping employs a dedicated team of 15 full-time staff.

What makes the business unique is its strong family involvement: Gerry’s wife, son, and daughter all contribute to the day-to-day running of operations, ensuring that the company maintains a hands-on, personal approach that larger competitors often cannot match.

Building Ireland spoke with Brendan Sheridan recently to discuss the current state of the business and the company’s aspirations for the future.

“We do ready-mix concrete, ready-mix mortar, trowel-ready mortar, concrete boom pumps, concrete Kelly blocks, concrete pumping and we’ve two-axle mini mix trucks as well,” he outlined.

“Right now, business is steady enough for us. We like to get another one or two drivers every year. We started about 10 years ago with one mixer, which then grew to two mixers and two pumps. In pre-Covid times, it went up to five mixers and two pumps. Post-Covid, it increased further to 10 mixers and three pumps. Currently, there are about 12 trucks on the road and four or five pumps operating.”

One of the key factors behind GS Concrete Pumping’s enduring success, Brendan emphasises, is the company’s ability to build and maintain strong relationships with its customers.

The company has carved out a niche serving smaller builders and the private residential market, focusing on delivering reliability and consistency rather than chasing large-scale contracts.

“Back in the day, Gerry would have started out doing a bit of haulage,” Brendan recalled. “Around 10 to 12 years ago, he began supplying his own customers directly. He discovered a niche in the private residential market with smaller builders.

“Some of these customers have been with us since day one and haven’t gone anywhere else since. We’re committed to providing them a service where we’ll be there any day they want. Really, it’s just about helping them and delivering a reliable service.”

GS Concrete Pumping primarily operates across Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, and Meath. Brendan notes that the bulk of their projects are residential in nature, ranging from driveways, footpaths and house extensions to foundations, floors, and shed bases. This focus on the residential sector has allowed the company to adapt quickly to changing market conditions, including shifts in homeowner priorities and the effects of broader economic trends.

Interestingly, Brendan pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic, while challenging for many businesses, provided an unexpected boost for GS Concrete Pumping. With more homeowners working from home, there was an increased demand for home improvements, particularly small-scale projects like shed bases.

“Covid was actually a good time for us when everyone started working from home and wanted to do up the shed base out the back. We do a lot of work on Saturdays for people completing their own houses,” he explained.

This flexibility in responding to customer needs—whether in timing, scheduling, or delivery—has been central to the company’s continued success.

What truly sets GS Concrete Pumping apart is the company’s willingness to going the extra mile for customers.

“We’re providing a good service,” said Brendan. “They can pick up the phone any day of the week and get either myself or Gerry on the other end. It could be at short notice, like if they’re stuck for a load, and we’ll do everything we can to get the load out to them when they need it. Many of our clients know they can call any time and we’ll try to help them out as best we can.”

This personal, responsive approach to service has cemented the company’s reputation for reliability and trustworthiness, even in a market dominated by larger, less flexible competitors.

Looking to the future, the Sheridans are not focused on rapid expansion or large-scale contracts.

Instead, their goal is to maintain a steady operation and continue providing consistent service to their loyal customer base.

“We just want to keep it steady and stay consistent. If it can stay at the level, it is – or even a tiny bit less – that would be good enough for us,” Brendan said.

The focus on sustainable growth and long-term relationships reflects the company’s belief that trust, quality, and personal service are far more important than short-term profits.

With decades of experience, a family-oriented approach, and a loyal client base, GS Concrete Pumping has proven that careful growth, consistent service and a personal touch can stand the test of time.

Builders and homeowners alike know that they can rely on the company for quality work, responsive service, and competitive pricing, whether the project is large or small.

For anyone seeking a trusted concrete pumping partner in Leinster, GS Concrete Pumping represents more than just a service provider—it embodies a commitment to excellence, reliability, and personal care. With its deep roots in the Irish construction industry and a reputation built on decades of hands-on experience, the family-run business continues to be a name that customers can count on, proving that in an increasingly impersonal world, family values and dedication to service remain as important as ever.

So, whether it’s a driveway, a house extension, a floor, or a shed base, GS Concrete Pumping is the partner that brings both expertise and trust to every project, ensuring that quality and reliability remain at the forefront of every job.
