Constructing Quality, Building Trust

18 Jul , 2025

These are exciting times for NHC Construction, which opened its new Tipperary HQ last year and is setting its sights on further growth in 2025.

From humble beginnings in 2008, NHC Construction has established itself as a leading multidisciplinary company, specialising in healthcare and educational settings. Eager to remain on an upward trajectory, it has been busy putting structures in place for the next phase of its development as founder and Managing Director Niall Healy explains:

“We’re ambitious about where we want to go. We’re growing year-on-year and are now laying the foundations to get up into the next tier of work. When I set up this business as a 20-year-old, the recession had just started, and things were tough. But we’ve come a long way since then.

“We moved into our new head office in February 2024 – we still haven’t got round to having an official opening – and that gives us the capacity to grow. We still have an office in Dublin, where I’m originally from, and which continues to give us a strong presence there, but the new premises allow us to build a team based in Tipperary and to work off that talent pool. We’re all for providing our team with a greater work/life balance and are also proud to be an equal opportunity employer.”

Niall continues: “The new premises are bigger and better in every way, giving us greater storage and office space. It complements the serious growth we have experienced in terms of management and structures. We recently appointed a new EHSQ Manager as well as a new Quantity Surveyor and have added a new technical department.

“Liam Cheasty has been on this journey with me from the early days and is now our M&E Contracts Manager. We discuss everything and are the perfect fit for each other. At this stage, I have a very capable and experienced team behind me. We want to be recognised for being a good employer as much as for the quality of our work. Training and upskilling are key to this.

“All of our work is in the public sector. We’re on the HSE, Department of Education and ETB frameworks. We’ve been set up for that since 2015. We’re familiar with all the educational and medical specifications and what those clients need. But we see ourselves as multidisciplinary. We’re self-sufficient in terms of plant and equipment. We’re equipped to carry out demolitions, fit-outs and groundworks. We take a collaborative approach to all projects with our tried and tested subcontractors.

“The challenge now is to get up to the next level and to be in a position to tender for bigger projects. We’re starting to get more recognised and have applied for Safe-T-Cert certification. We’re ready to take the next step.”

NHC Construction prides itself on competitive tendering, quality construction, and an exemplary safety record. Its people are at the core of its growth and success, bringing drive and expertise to every project they undertake.

NHC Construction’s cooperative and proactive approach ensures complete customer satisfaction. Niall and his team understand that the key to success in every project, no matter how big or small it may be, is forming strong relationships, providing flexible and value-based solutions, and ensuring they deliver on all aspects of promises. The company’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is reflected by the high volume of repeat business it receives.

NHC Construction boasts an impressive portfolio of completed projects nationwide. It recently completed hygiene upgrade works at St Camillus’ Hospital in Limerick, and a project at Grangegorman Campus in Dublin. The Grangegorman project involved the refurbishing and stabilising of gabion and bleacher structures that retain the ground between playing pitches within the campus. Temporary works design, temporary lifting device and all groundworks were also looked after by NHC Construction.

They are currently working on a project at Inchicore College of Further Education. Valued at €1.3 million, the Inchicore scope of works includes reroofing of the existing building, installation of new curtain wall glazing and energy upgrades.

“We can facilitate any package. We are well-known for being able to take on projects that have peculiarity to them,” Niall says.

Asked why he chose to locate his thriving company’s new head office in South Tipperary, the affable Dubliner replies: “Geographically, it suited us and our staff. I’m living in the area, and Liam Cheasty is close-by in Waterford. A large portion of our work is still in Dublin along with the South and Midlands. We’ve carried out projects in the majority of counties in Ireland. It’s the client rather than the project that we cater for.”

As NHC Construction continues to go from strength to strength, Niall would like to take this opportunity to thank his family, clients, and suppliers for their continued support as well as his team and subcontractors for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
