Building Ireland caught up with company director Gabriel Cummins to learn more about the ins and outs of the business and the projects it has on-going at the minute.
2024 will see Cummins & Cummins Building Contractors Ltd marking an even two decades in business and the plan for Gabriel Cummins and the rest of the team in Kilvine is to continue the company’s growth as strong as it at present.
Established since 2004, the Co Mayo-based firm offers its customers with a complete service when it comes to building requirements – from extensions and renovations to new builds and fit-outs.
Today, Cummins & Cummins Building Contractors Ltd and it’s very much a family business, with Gabriel’s brother John playing an integral part, while using the same trusted sub-contractors on all project the company undertakes.
Gabriel and his father Tom started up their business together as plastering contracting specialists but after several years in the construction industry, it took a different path towards becoming a main building contractor. Tom is now retired from the business, but the company still continues to provide outstanding craftsmanship on each and every one of their projects.
At present, as it continues its growth trend year on year since its inception, business is steady for the company. “We’re kept very busy all the time,” outlined Gabriel who himself is a former All-Ireland plastering champion.
“We have completed a number of school projects and council housing schemes which started during Covid and kept us busy throughout the pandemic and at the moment we have a few different projects in progress.”
Gabriel was please to inform me about some public works jobs for the HSE, county councils and the Department of Education that are currently in the pipeline.
Cummins & Cummins Building Contractors Ltd’s portfolio of projects has seen it carrying out work for clients all throughout the West of Ireland. The reason behind its continued success is a tradition of excellent craftsmanship that has been maintained down through the years.
“We have invested in a wide range of plant and machinery which help reduce the amount of manual labour involved in most of our project, compared to years ago. The company is fully compliant with all Health and Safety guidelines which is very much at the core of the business.”
