Delivering an impeccable service

5 Oct , 2022

Based in Mallow, Co Cork, Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd specialises in heat pumps and offers both electrical and plumbing services to its customers on a nationwide basis. Building Ireland touched base with the company’s Office Manager Gina O’Regan to hear more about the services it provides and the current projects on-going at present.

Business is booming right now at Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd and the plan for the Co Cork-based heat pump specialists is to try and keep things that right through to 2023.

Set-up by Managing Director Conor Walsh in 2005, the company has grown from strength to strength over the past 17 years to the point where it now employs a dozen full-time engineers.

Those engineers work across the Plumbing, Electrical, Renewable Heating and Air-conditioning trade on a nationwide basis to ensure that the needs of Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd’s clients are met week in, week out.

Building Ireland spoke with Gina O’Regan, the company’s Office Manager for the past six years, to learn all about the ins and outs of the business and its plans to expand its services further.

“Conor Walsh and Michael John O’Regan are the directors and it became a Limited company in 2016,” Gina outlined.

“We provide plumbing and electrical services for our clients, heat pumps – both supply and maintenance – air conditioning and solar panels.”

Conor Walsh started up the business having had many years’ experience in the air-conditioning & refrigeration industry under his belt, while Michael John O’Regan came in as a qualified electrician and now has more than a decade’s experience working in the industry.

Since ‘Day One’, Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd has been dedicated to providing premier customer service and, with the experience the company’s personnel has, it can provide the support a client’s project needs.

The proof is in the pudding and all you’d have to do is look at the state of business at the moment for Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd.

The company’s project book is full up and even throughout the Covid-19 pandemic – and the government lockdowns which followed in order to combat the spread of the virus – it was kept going with work and never stopped as the essential services were rolled out.

“Over the past two years we kept working through with plumbing breakdowns and continued to work through the entire pandemic,” said Gina.

“We’re just so busy at the moment. It’s incredibly busy and we’re actually looking for more plumbers and Conor is enthusiastic about getting apprentices and training them up to the highest standards.”

Right now, Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd is immersed in numerous projects which stretch from Mallow up to Dublin and into Kildare and Wexford as well.

It would’ve been the vision for Conor Walsh when he first set-up his own venture back in 2005 and, at the moment, it’s perhaps even surpassing expectations.

“We’re on a project for Masonbrook called Brocan Woods, which is in Dublin, and another one for them called Ferns Wood in Kildare,” said the Office Manager.

“We just started a service contract for a site in Wicklow and another in Wexford for Ashgrove and did all of the plumbing in Sallybrook, Glanmire which was for David Nodwell Plant Ltd.

“We’re also working on the Amberwood site for Forefront Construction here in Mallow.”

As heat pump specialists, Solar PV Installers, a full mechanical contractor and experts in plumbing and electrical sector, it’s no surprise to see Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd’s wide range services in high demand at the present time providing clients with a range of Renewable Energy Solutions.

Despite the challenges out there, namely with material costs, the Irish construction industry is very much thriving and this Mallow-based venture has been thriving along with it.

So, the burning question is, what has been the secret to the success of Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd down through the years?

How has a small start-up grown into a what is now blossoming business with an excellent reputation attached to its name.

Gina herself sees a lot of it coming down to earned trusts from clients through delivering quality projects time and time again.

“I think it’s down to the reliable service and the fact that we pride ourselves on our work,” she stated.

“It works well for us and we do everything along with the tradesmen and work well together. There are never any long breaks on a project with us either, we’re quick and reliable for our clients.”

Indeed, Walsh Heating & Cooling Ltd is a company which strives hard to meet deadlines and coordinate with other related projects.

They maintain open communication with the client to keep he/she up to date on the status of the job and they do this to guarantee that the project is completed according to his/her preferences.

Looking at the months ahead for the business, Gina says targeting expansion within the company and into different areas of work throughout the country will be top of the agenda.

“Over the coming months we’ll be looking to increase our staff numbers hopefully, but that can be easier said than done.

“After that, we’ll be looking to expand more and more into different areas around the country and hopefully stay as busy as we are at the moment,” she concluded.

Here’s hoping.
