Based in Dooradoyle, Co Limerick, DL Construction offers services in new builds, refurbishments, renovations, extensions, loft conversions, specialised stonework, and all other manners of construction work. Building Ireland caught up with directors Diarmuid O’Shaughnessy and Liam Fitzgerald recently to learn all about the company.
Business is good right now at DL Construction and the plan for Diarmuid O’Shaughnessy and Liam Fitzgerald is to keep things that way right through to 2021.
Operating from Dooradoyle, Co Limerick, the company is established since 2017 and its directors have 30 years’ experience between them in the construction industry.
Since ‘Day One’, the cornerstone of the business has been to provide clients with professionalism, efficiency, and quality workmanship, which goes a long way towards explaining DL Construction’s rapid rise over the past few years.
Both Diarmuid and Liam were good enough to take some time out recently to fill Building Ireland in on the details.
“The company was established in late 2017,” explained Liam. “We’re a new company, we don’t sing about the years and experience that it has, but we do explain to customers that we have previously worked in other businesses in the industry and you could say we’ve gained some valuable experience along the way.
“The experience we have between us would be the best part of 30 years. We’ve been expanding since we started and, like any business, we started off small and now we kind of cover everything for the client like a one-stop shop.”
Right now, DL Construction operates with 7 full-time staff, along with sub-contractors, and employs qualified and highly skilled tradesmen catering for every aspect of the client’s building needs from detailed project planning, work preparation and focused project goals.
In the space of three short years, the Munster-based company has built up a solid reputation through relentless attention to detail, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Building a good business relationship with clients has always been very important to DL Construction and that starts with a free, no-obligation quotation and consultation.
They strive to deliver every project within budget, on schedule and to specification.
Certified, registered and insured, DL Construction’s works can be seen, and referrals given of previous and on-going projects throughout all of Munster.
“Right now, we are extremely busy. In all honesty, we have never been busier,” Diarmuid pointed out.
“During the lockdown, I had time to relax that I would have never had before since I started working. Liam had time to work on his own place too but now we’re back at it and, as I said, we’ve never been busier here.”
Current projects for the company include a new build in Mungret and upgrade to a house in Meadowvale, Co Limerick which will see a 65 sq. ft extension to the back of the house once completed.
The company also has another house extension on-going in Dooradoyle Limerick, along with house renovations in Raheen and Castletroy.
“We’ll be starting two more new renovations in about two months’ time,” said Diarmuid.
“It’s very busy at the moment and we work alongside three architects, with GMDS Architects being the local one for us here in Dooradoyle Limerick.
Right now, DL Construction covers all services and can provide all trades specialising in new builds, extensions, refurbishments, renovations, insurance works, attic conversions, ground works, specialised stone works, architectural and engineering services.
The jointly run business also caters for interior and exterior designs and consultations and, as part of its service, they cover every aspect of your building needs, from setting out, planning, construction phases to final finishing details all supervised, and guaranteed customer satisfaction.
From foundations to turnkey finish It seems DL Construction cover all bases when it comes to their industry, but what has been the secret to the company’s success in such a short space of time?
According to its directors, the range of services it has to offer, combined with personal touch, has gone a long way since the latter part of 2017.
“When we go in and look at a job, we go through it with a fine comb and look at how we’re going to proceed,” said Diarmuid.
“We have our own engineer that we operate with here and see ourselves as kind of a one-stop shop in that we cover everything.
“We guarantee that we’ll have everything covered on the job and show our clients video/photos of the job fully completed.”
Liam commented: “Our reviews have been good so far and we want to keep them that way. We really try and get into the community too and are well known in the area.
“We are striving to build a strong reputation here and hopefully we can continue to work towards that.”
Going on the evidence thus far, DL Construction’s reputation going forward looks just about as solid as one of their many new builds around the Treaty County.
