1 Aug , 2025

Established in 2017 by Damian Sutton, DLM Groundworks Ltd is a leading provider of groundworks, civil engineering and haulage services in the South East and beyond.

Specialising in groundworks, site clearance, civil engineering, demolition, drainage, concreting, low loader hire, electro and butt fusion, Astro and grass pitch construction, and muck away / haulage, the New Ross-based operation has quickly grown to become one of the largest groundworks providers in the region with 24 staff and an ever-expanding customer-base. With valued clients such as Tom O’Brien Construction, Liam Neville Developments, Sisk, JJ Rhatigan, Roadstone and Robert Quinn on its books, DLM Groundworks has earned an enviable reputation for top quality work at a competitive price.

Having grown up working in the family plant hire business, Damian has a wealth of experience in the industry. An acronym of Damian and his daughters Libby and Mia, DLM Groundworks’ highly-skilled civil engineering team works closely with clients to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet their project delivery needs. Damian and his crew pride themselves in the delivery of projects safely, on time and within budget.

Working closely with its customers and suppliers, DLM Groundworks is committed to efficient project delivery where Health & Safety and sustainability are paramount. The Co. Wexford contractor has an array of machinery to carry out your civil works quickly and efficiently, including excavators, dumpers, site rollers, tipper trucks, a bulldozer, a rubber duck, and a tractor and dump trailer. The latest addition to the state-of-the-art fleet is a new Develon (formerly Doosan) digger which was purchased from EMS Construction. All vehicles and machines are maintained and upgraded on a regular basis to avoid breakdowns and downtime.

Furthermore, the vehicles are fully equipped with all of the safety features required under Irish construction law, while the excavators and bulldozer are fitted with Leica GPS machine control systems.

“We have something for every job. No job is too big or too small. It’s very important to have good equipment, especially at a time when labour has never been as scarce,” Damian says.

“We’re lucky to have a top-class team who take great pride in their work and thrive on finishing on time and under budget. I have a huge personal knowledge of the business and am very hands-on. I’m on-site and contactable at all times. I’m very passionate about the quality of our work and am always looking at ways we can improve by embracing new technology.

“We enjoy an excellent working relationship with all of our clients which leads to repeat business time and time again.”

DLM Groundworks is engaged in many healthcare, wastewater / drainage, residential and recreational projects. It was proud to collaborate with main contractor Tom O’Brien Construction on the emergency rebuild and restoration of the four-storey 280-bed Wexford General Hospital following a devastating fire outbreak and subsequent full evacuation of the hospital in March 2023. The project earned Tom O’Brien Construction the prestigious ‘Contractor Health Project of the Year’ accolade at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2024. The Irish Construction Industry Awards is the premier event for bench-marking excellence within Ireland’s construction industry, with the winners chosen by an independent panel of industry leading experts.

“We’ve also carried out groundworks packages at St Patrick’s Hospital in Waterford with JJ Rhatigan and University Hospital Waterford with Tom O’Brien Construction. At Wexford General Hospital, we carried out demolition works after the fire and were involved in setting up temporary accommodation for hospital staff on call and an endoscopy unit during the Covid-19 pandemic,” Damian explains.

“On the wastewater side of things, we’ve worked with Sisk on treatment plants all over the country. We recently finished a drainage scheme for Wicklow County Council working alongside Liam Neville Developments. We’ve also completed Astroturf pitches for soccer clubs in Waterford and Naas in the past 12 months. Our main client for Astro pitches is PST Sport.”

In addition, DLM Groundworks partnered with Liam Neville Developments on Phase 1 of Cúl Dara in Waterford. The scope of works on the 76-unit development included foundations, mainline storm sewers as well as site preparation. With comfort and style at the heart of their design, these spacious one, two, three and four-bedroom homes come complete with all the furnishings of a life well lived.

DLM Groundworks has since commenced another residential project – consisting of 37 units – in Wexford Town with Liam Neville Developments. The scope of works here includes mainline storm sewers, house bases and footpaths.

As the family-run business continues to go from strength to strength, Damian would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients and suppliers for their unwavering support as well as his expert team for their hard work and dedication.
