Electrical Engineering at the highest level

19 Oct , 2022

Based in Ballycoolin, Co Dublin, DND Electrical Engineering Ltd provides its clients with high end electrical installation and maintenance solutions. Building Ireland touched base with Managing Director Damian Duff to hear more about this thriving company’s projects and its hopes for further expansion going forward.

Business is good these days at DND Electrical Engineering Ltd and the plan for founder Damian Duff and the rest of the team at Millennium Business Park, Ballycoolin, Dublin 15 is to try and keep things that way right through to 2023.

The company is up and running half a decade now and continues to be a one-stop shop across the board when it comes to electrical engineering.

DND Electrical Engineering Ltd has seen steady growth since its inception in 2017 and, to this day, the service it offers its clients remains at the highest level.

Building Ireland spoke with Damian Duff to learn more on the ins and outs of the business, as well as what impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on it over the past 24 months.

“Business is good right now but, in saying that, it has been a strange time coming out the back end of the Covid pandemic,” he outlined.

“With the lockdowns, a lot of our clients were out of the office and that certainly had an impact on us, but it’s coming back now. We do a lot of office fit-outs and they’re starting to open back up again, so we’re getting busy with them again.”

Indeed, DND Electrical Engineering Ltd has made its name in the office fit-out projects it has completed in and around Dublin.

The company’s work doesn’t stop with the completion of a project as many of its clients are provided with scheduled and emergency maintenance services, as needed, as well as annual and bi-annual preventative maintenance services.

All of that considered, it’s easy to see how the Covid-19 pandemic, and the government lockdowns brought in to combat the spread of the virus, had such an impact on business for Damian and the team over the past two years.

Today, as things slowly resume to normal, DND Electrical Engineering Ltd is immersed in projects all over the capital and is beginning to branch out further across the country.

“The majority of our work has been in and around Dublin so far, but we’re actually starting to branch out more and more now,” said the Managing Director.

“Inland Fisheries is one of our main clients here and the work we do with them would be all over Ireland.  We’re in Galway now as well and have work on-going in the south of the country.

“The day of the big office fit-out is drawing to a close and you’re going to have much smaller offices now, so we’ve branched out with what we do here.”

Since ‘Day One’, DND Electrical Engineering Ltd has offered its service in office fit-out, commercial, educational, health & medical, leisure and residential & private, operating 24/7 and 365 days a year.

As the company branches more and more into different areas of the country, Damian confirms that expansion will be something on the horizon for the business.

So, all of that considered, the burning question is what has been the secret behind its success to date?

How has a small start-up grown into a thriving business in the short space of five years that is now renowned for carrying out excellent work amongst its clients?

For Damian, he credits the approach taken and the staff itself for the rapid growth and success of DND Electrical Engineering Ltd to date.

“It’s the personal touch that we provide and the work that we ultimately deliver,” he said.

“The core of staff is very good here. In fact, it’s the best that it has ever been at the moment and we have plans to add more to the team here in the next few months.

“The success of the company is born out of clients coming back and asking can we do this for them.

“It’s very rare that we say ‘no’.”

The proof is in the pudding, too.

Last year, DND Electrical Engineering Ltd was shortlisted at the annual Fit-Out Awards in two categories, while it was also recognised at the Facilities Management Awards and shortlisted for Sub-Contractor of the Year at the Irish Construction Awards.

This year has seen the company achieving a Business All-Star award thus far and you can almost be certain that the accolades will continue to flow.

Looking towards the coming month for the business, Damian sees expansion on the horizon despite all of the challenges out there at present for the industry, particularly with the cost of building materials.

As the projects continue to come thick and fast, DND Electrical Engineering Ltd is preparing for the future and remains as optimistic as ever over the potential growth of the business.

“We should definitely see some growth in the next 12 months here after the bummer of the last two years with Covid.

“So, we’ll be looking at growth and then, as I said earlier, it’ll be about branching out more and adding to the services that we provide for clients here,” the MD concluded.

Fantastic to hear.
