Healy Building & Property Maintenance in Athenry, Co. Galway has been synonymous with quality construction since 1979. Specialising in new builds, reconstructions, extensions and renovations, the family-run concern will turn your dream home or commercial project into a reality.
Founder Johnny Healy is joined by his wife Paula, son Shane and three top-class tradesmen. Like Johnny, Shane is a qualified carpenter as is another son, Mark, who works for timber frame specialists SIP Energy in Athenry. “Carpentry is in our blood!” quips Shane, who came on board in 2005.
Superior workmanship, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients are the hallmarks of Healy Building & Property Maintenance. Health & Safety is at the core of the business, and never more so than in this post Covid-19 era. From concept to completion, Johnny, Shane and their small, but dedicated team are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs, and that there are no hidden or extra costs involved. All of their work complies with the highest industry regulations.
Whether your next project is a renovation, reconstruction, extension or new build, Healy Building & Property Maintenance’s one-stop-shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and hassle-free. The Galway contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from architects / engineers and satisfied customers.
The CIF member and SEAI-registered contractor enjoys an excellent working relationship with sub-contractors, architects / engineers and suppliers. Sub-contractors include Derek Carroll Electrical, Brendan Tarpey Heating & Plumbing and DMN Roofing, while Esker Readymix, Michael Cooney & Sons (Homevalue Hardware), Brooks, DPL, Tecron, Munster Joinery and Fahy & O’Connor Windows and Doors are all suppliers to the family business. Robert Nanasi, Dave Courtney, Stephen Hanniffy and Brendan Slavin are just some of the architects / engineers Healy Building & Property Maintenance collaborate with on a regular basis.
“We have a large and loyal customer-base in the Galway area,” Johnny explains.
“Every job is your shop window so that’s why we always insist on doing things right. Attention-to-detail and value-for-money are key for us. We look after the carpentry, roofing and groundworks ourselves and sub-contract the electrical, plumbing and block-laying to the same tried and trusted tradesmen.
“By employing highly-skilled people, working closely with our architects and designers, and using only the very best building products, we’re able to deliver the highest quality construction to our clients.”
No job is too big or too small for Healy Building & Property Maintenance who are engaged in both the residential and commercial sectors. Since the pandemic, they have carried out a number of reconstruction projects which involved restoring pre-1900 homes to their former glory with a contemporary twist. The Healy’s have just completed two such projects in Athenry and are starting three more in the coming weeks.
The highly-regarded builder is also putting the finishing touches to a dormer bungalow in Moycullen and a seven-bay machinery store in Athenry Golf Club. Healy Building & Property Maintenance has completed service stations in Athenry and Moycullen, a clubhouse for Athenry GAA and full reconstruction of Athenry Town Hall in recent years. In addition, they’ve undertaken housing adaptation grant work for elderly people or people with a disability on behalf of Galway County Council.
As the cost of building materials continue to sky-rocket, Johnny stresses the importance of keeping customers abreast of ever-changing prices.
“Everything is going up and everyone has a budget, so the onus is on the builder to keep the client informed. The costs are crazy at the moment, but most people understand the world we live in. If we can make savings for them, we will,” he says.
With 60 years’ combined experience in construction, Johnny and Shane are experts in their field and provide a range of services to clients who want to construct a new home or alter, extend or improve the space they live in. They would like to take this opportunity to thank their customers, suppliers, sub-contractors and design teams for their continued support as well as their staff for their hard work, dedication and skill.
