Farrell Furniture, a family-run business based in Ardee Co. Louth, are celebrating a successful 1,000 years of service from their employees this week. The furniture manufacturer has been creating bespoke furniture since its foundation in 1961. The family-run business understands the importance of innovating and investing ahead of time, in machines that allowed them to compete in new sectors and markets. All pieces are designed and manufactured on-site in their Ardee Factory and installed by their own network.
Another significant milestone in the Farrell Furniture journey is the retirement of four long-standing employees. To acknowledge their commitment and the hard work of their employees, Farrell Furniture hosted a pre-Christmas lunch for all staff on Thursday the 5th of December on their grounds. The event was hosted by Irene Farrell and Ollie Farrell, the husband and wife team that founded the business with Ollie’s brother Paddy, who also attended the celebration. Their sons, Paul and Brendan Farrell, Joint CEOs of the company welcomed everyone before presenting the four retiring service employees with gifts by Brendan and Irene Farrell on behalf of the company. Farrell Furniture also has an office located in the UK; a number of UK representatives also attended the event to celebrate the company.
The core of the family business is the manufacturing of private office furniture, with the additional focus in recent years on student accommodation and build-to-rent housing. The company will have been in businesses for 60 years in 2021 and is currently transitioning into its third generation of the family business.
In addition to the long-service presentations, the Farrell family presented the Conor Farrell Memorial Award and Letterfrack Design Bursary. The award is open to all full-time GMIT Letterfrack students who must show a selection of pieces created while a student at the college. Students must show attention to detail and commitment to their work, and show good character amongst peers, staff and the public.
