Fordlin Construction celebrates 20 years

14 Jun , 2024

Celebrating 20 years in business, Fordlin Construction Ltd is a leading building contracting firm specialising in renovation and refurbishment as well as new builds for the residential sector in Dublin.

The Templeogue-based company has a wealth of experience in providing high quality construction, building and renovation services. Its mission is to collaborate and work with clients and architects to deliver projects to the highest standards.

Fordlin Construction was founded in 2004 by brothers-in-law Paul Shields and Joe Denvir. The name ‘Fordlin’ is an amalgam of the second syllables of Longford and Dublin where they hail from. In June 2021, Neil Robinson became a partner in the business, effectively replacing Paul who is retiring at the end of this year.

Neil relocated to Dublin from the UK in 2008 and set up his own painting and decorating business which evolved into a construction company called NRG Building Solutions. Having worked together on many projects, Neil and Joe decided to combine their strengths under the Fordlin banner.

“It was a natural fit,” Joe explains.

“We had been working and finishing houses together, so it made sense to join forces. I’m a bricklayer by trade and Neil is a painter and decorator. Paul is a carpenter who worked in New York for 10 years before we set up this company. He’s now stepping away after 20 years in business, during which time we’ve never had to advertise thanks to our stellar reputation.”

Innovation, quality workmanship, attention to detail, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of Fordlin Construction. Health & Safety is at the core of the business. The company works closely with its Health & Safety partner, Ayrton Group, to ensure best practice on site at all times as well as keeping staff up-to-date with regular training.

Whether your next project is a new build, refurbishment or extension, the South Dublin contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from architects, engineers and satisfied clients.

By employing highly-skilled people, collaborating with clients’ design teams and project managers, and using only the very best building products, this fully-insured contractor is able to deliver construction projects of the highest standards.

Fordlin Construction’s 15-strong team are supported and supplemented by the same tried and trusted subcontractors, including ECS Electrical, M3 Plumbing & Heating, Andy Bailey bricklayer, James Ansbro Moudlings, Donal Lynch lime plasterer, Joe McEnroe Joinery, BK Kitchens, John Magherusan painting contractor, M&B Tiling and Jade Metal.

Fordlin sources high-quality building products from well-established suppliers such as Chadwicks, Murdock Builders and Roadstone. The company is delighted to work with some of Ireland’s leading architects and engineering firms. Frequent collaborators include Clancy Moore Architects (CMA), DMVF Architects, ODKM Architects, Ryan, W Kennihan Architects, Suzy Freeney Design Architects, Antipas Jones Architects, Brunner Consulting Engineers and Niamh O’Reilly Structural Engineering.

Fordlin Construction engages clear lines of communication to ensure clients are kept fully up-to-date at all stages of the project. Throughout your project, it will provide you with face-to-face consultations both on-and-off site.

“We have been privileged over the years to complete numerous high-specification projects with award-winning architects,” Joe says.

“Most of our work comes from well-established architects and client-based initiatives. All of our contractors are SEAI-registered for grant purposes.”

Renovation

Fordlin Construction specialises in the renovation, restoration and conservation of period properties (Georgian and Victorian). The company has extensive experience working and consulting with clients, architects, engineers and quantity surveyors towards the one goal of making new designs for existing homes a reality.

Extensions & Retrofit

Building an extension to your existing home will add greater living space while also adding value to the property. It is also an opportunity to upgrade the energy efficiency of your home while creating greater comfort for the whole family. Fordlin works with clients to ensure their extension, whether it be a kitchen or bathroom or just extra living space, will be completed with care and excellence.

New Builds

In addition, Fordlin has all the expertise necessary to build your dream home. Its end-to-end building service includes groundwork and site layouts, structural build, plumbing and heating systems, all electrical works, all carpentry and joinery, insulating and soundproofing, rendering and skimming, painting and decorating, floor covering, complete kitchen and bathroom fit-outs and landscaping.

“We deal only with private residential clients, but that’s not to say we won’t branch into commercial work in the future. It’s important to keep your options open, and be willing and able to diversify,” Joe continues.

“We have built up a large portfolio of good-sized projects over the years. From renovations and extensions to new builds, full retrofits and modernisation, we have got you covered.”

Asked what’s the secret to Fordlin Construction’s longevity and success, the affable Dubliner replies: “Good communication is the most important thing for us, followed by an ability to problem-solve. Colm Moore from CMA Architects once remarked to a client of ours: ‘The more challenging the architect drawing is, the more we like it’. I wouldn’t disagree with him about that!”

As Fordlin Construction continues to go from strength to strength, Joe, Neil and Paul would like to take this opportunity to thank their clients, suppliers and design teams for their continued support as well as their direct employees and subcontractors for their hard work, dedication and skill.

Here’s to the next 20 years!
