GMD Engineering Services is a leading provider of electrical engineering services to the industrial, commercial and residential sectors. Established in 2018, the Dublin-based contracting firm continues to go from strength to strength under the direction of Paul Guyatt, Leon Meade and Mick Deally.
Working on fitouts, new builds, refurbishments and shell and core projects, GMD Engineering Services are experts in electrical, lighting and fire alarm installations as well as electrical design and build. Indeed, they boast extensive experience in design and build on some of the largest student accommodation built in Ireland to date. The company also has a dedicated maintenance division which carries out all planned preventative electrical maintenance works along with emergency call-out services for its clients.
Quality is always assured with GMD Engineering Services who handle projects from initial concept through to completion. The company has earned an enviable reputation with some of Ireland’s foremost electrical engineers and main building contractors for delivering quality installations. It has a proven track record for bringing projects in on time and within the agreed budget.
Headquartered in Dublin 2, the company’s aim is to ensure that a quality installation, which represents value-for-money, is delivered in a safe manner and in full compliance with the overall construction programme. Each project is individually assessed to ensure that it is adequately resourced and a Risk Assessment and Method Statement are implemented.
The three directors are joined by a 25-strong professional and highly-skilled team who are the company’s greatest asset and are key to its ongoing success.
“We insist on employing people directly rather than on a subcontract basis,” Mick says.
“It gives us greater control over our operations and allows us to deliver quality over quantity. Quality can suffer if you’re using subcontractors all the time. We are very fortunate to have a top-class and capable team at our disposal. The repeat business we receive is down to the quality of our work. Paul, Leon and I are also very hands-on and have a massive day-to-day input. We make it our business to be on site every day.
“At the moment, office fitouts and medical centres are our ‘bread and butter’. We also carry out a small amount of residential and retail projects across Dublin. And not forgetting our maintenance service which is offered to existing clients.
“As well as quality, we pride ourselves on our exceptional turnkey and aftercare services. We are always willing to go the extra mile when it comes to customer satisfaction. We are growing the company and growing it sensibly.”
GMD Engineering Services has come a long way in the past seven years. “The three of us worked together for another electrical company before deciding to set up our own business. I was a contracts manager, Leon was a project manager and Paul was an engineer. So we have many years of combined experience in the industry,” Mick explains.
Electrical services, structured cabling, design and build, and maintenance are the main services provided by GMD Engineering Services. The company is highly proficient in electrical installations such as access control, MV / LV / ELV systems, UPS / IPS, BMS and mechanical control systems, and lighting specialist control systems. In addition, GMD can supply, install and test Cat 5e, Cat 6 and Cat 6A copper and fibre-optic systems. With their inhouse engineering team, they can also provide clients with a range of electrical engineering solutions to meet their project specific requirements. Furthermore, their electrical maintenance includes periodic testing, emergency lighting, fire alarms, fire extinguishers and portable appliance testing.
GMD Engineering Services boasts an impressive client list which includes fitout specialists such as Roccul and The Interiors Group and property management companies like Savills and BNP Paribas. Other clients they have engaged with include McGarrell Reilly Group, Glenveagh Properties, EBS, Netscout, Regus, Nokia, Uninest Student Residences, Securitas, World Courier, IPUT and Apollo Aviation Group.
“We have some wonderful clients who we enjoy an excellent working relationship with,” Mick enthuses.
“Currently, we’re carrying out a Cat B fitout for McGarrell Reilly on an office upgrade in Charlemont Street, while we’ve recently completed the full electrical package on a HSE Primary Care Centre in Omni Park, Santry as well as a Cat B fitout at Flogas’ new headquarters in Dublin Airport Central.
“Other recently completed projects include the new CBTax Irish HQ on North Dock, The Freight Building in Castleforbes, new offices for Ancestry.com and Corgan in The Exo Building, Point Square, FFH Management Services’ new HQ at 2 Grand Parade for Roccul and Glenveagh Properties’ new HQ in Maynooth. The Interiors Group were the main contractors on The Freight Building where we did Cat A and B fitouts.
“Ancestry.com and Corgan were both Cat B fitouts, while FFH Management Services was also a Cat B fitout. All of the above fitouts were carried out in collaboration with Roccul and The Interiors Group.”
