K-Mech Mechanical is a leading commercial, industrial and retail plumbing, heating and ventilation specialist covering the Kildare and Dublin area.
Established in 2007 by Kieran Moore, K-Mechanical and its sister company Kieran Moore Heating & Plumbing have grown to employ 16 people, including Liam Dempsey who was named Apprentice of the Year at the 2023 Heating & Plumbing Awards. The Apprentice of the Year Award was a major accomplishment for Liam Dempsey who previously made headlines in the summer of 2021 when he scored 14 points for Kildare in a shock Leinster Under 20 Hurling Championship victory over Wexford. Hosted by Plumbing & Heating Magazine, the Awards are judged by an independent panel of respected industry experts who have unrivalled experience and industry knowledge. The 2023 Awards culminated in a gala ceremony at Clontarf Castle, Dublin on November 10 last which was attended by over 400 people, including leading figures in the Irish plumbing and heating industry.
“We normally only take on qualified plumbers, but I’m glad we made an exception in this case,” Kieran says.
“Four years ago, Liam’s father Joe rang me to ask if I would take him under my wing. Joe hurled for Kildare and also played hurling / shinty for Ireland against Scotland. I used to hurl for Coill Dubh myself and made my senior debut for them against Éire Óg, marking none other than Joe!
“I’ve done a lot of work over the years for Joe, who has a carpentry business, so it was the least I could do. I can’t praise Liam enough. He’s a great young fella; a perfectionist who does everything to the best of his ability. When he puts his mind to something, he gives it 100%. He also has a great way with the customers. All he needs now is experience.
“We’re delighted for Liam. He’s fully deserving of his award and it’s nice to see our business getting a bit of exposure on the back of it as well.”

“We currently have 18 schools on our books and are responsible for maintaining 100 homes nationwide for Nua Healthcare Services. We also carry out housing adaptation grant heating and upgrade works for Kildare County Council as well as facility and office fitouts at data centres.
