Proven, professional and progressive, Kearney Construction Ltd in Clonoulty, Co. Tipperary is a leading family-run building contracting firm which continues to go from strength to strength after more than 40 years in business.
Specialising in one-off new residential builds, extensions and renovations, the company has earned an enviable reputation for quality work. It was established as Philip Kearney Construction in 1982 by husband-and-wife Philip and Catherine Kearney to provide a general construction service in the Premier County and beyond. Building has been in the family for generations and is something Philip and Catherine’s son Fintan is proud to uphold.
“It’s in the blood,” he explains.
“Both my father and I are carpenters by trade and so is my uncle Pat Kearney who is retired. My granduncle John Kearney was also a carpenter, so the Kearney name is synonymous with carpentry and building in this area. Philip Kearney Construction became a limited company in 1991 before changing its name to Kearney Construction in recent years.”
With an emphasis on quality rather than quantity, Kearney Construction has remained small with Gerard Ryan – who is also a carpenter – joining Philip, Catherine and Fintan in a close-knit team. They are supported and supplemented by the same tried and trusted subcontractors, including plumber Michael Ryan, Conor Ryan of Kilmore Electrical Contractors and block layer Andrew Morrissey. The Kearneys main suppliers are Stakelums Home & Hardware in Thurles, PP O’Dwyer Hardware in Dundrum, Ronayne’s Homevalue in Thurles and Gleeson’s Concrete in Donohill.
Outstanding workmanship, attention to detail, value-for-money and an unwavering commitment to Health & Safety as well as working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of Kearney Construction. From concept to completion, the Kearney team are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs and to the highest standard.
Whether your next project is a new build, renovation or extension, Kearney Construction’s one-stop shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and hassle-free. The Co. Tipperary contractor’s reputation for exceptional construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from design teams and satisfied customers.
By employing highly-skilled people, working closely with subcontractors, engineers and architects, and using only the very best building products, this fully insured contractor is able to deliver the highest quality construction.
“We pride ourselves on the quality of our work which can be seen throughout Tipperary and surrounding areas,” Fintan says.
“We’re proud to put our name to everything we do. We’re a professional, forward-thinking firm who are always willing to go the extra mile for our customers. Our start-to-finish customer care is second to none.”
Mindful that a construction project is no small undertaking, Kearney Construction goes to great lengths to ensure that their work is completed to the highest standards and that all employees are fully certified. The use of modern building methods and materials ensures that all projects are as future-proof as possible.
While the long-established family business is predominantly engaged in the residential sector, it also has experience in industrial, commercial and public sector works.
“New house builds and extensions are our ‘bread and butter’, but we’ve also completed industrial and commercial projects as well as projects for the Department of Education and Uisce Éireann. We carried out an extension to Gortnahoe National School a couple of years ago and did all the carpentry work on behalf of MEIC for Uisce Éireann on the Water Treatment Works plant in Bohernacrusha.”
Fintan added: “One of our biggest commercial projects was Lyons’ Tyre Services in Thurles. We were the main contractors on that one.”
Kearney Construction featured on the popular RTÉ TV programme ‘Room to Improve’ back in 2012 when it transformed Cathal and Siobhan O’Donoghue’s four-bed bungalow on the outskirts of Tipperary Town into their dream home. The revamp was carried out in conjunction with celebrity architect Dermot Bannon.
“We had Phil Kearney from Clonoulty doing the work for us and I have to say that he was absolutely a dream to work with – an excellent builder, and for the most part we used local tradesmen in the project which lasted 14 weeks,” local dentist Cathal O’Donoghue explained at the time.
“The house has been transformed and while it looks more or less the same from the roadside, it looks nothing like the same inside. The sense of light and space is brilliant. We both have large extended families and when they arrive, they tend to arrive en masse, which we really love. Now, we have the space to entertain and somewhere everyone can be catered for in comfort.”
Currently undertaking two new one-off builds and three extensions in the locality, business is thriving for Kearney Construction which has two more new builds on the horizon. The Kearney family would like to take this opportunity to thank their clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as their expert team of tradespeople for their hard work, dedication and skill.
