With tough carbon targets to meet, rising fuel costs and energy efficiency high on the agenda, building standards are forecast to get much tighter. It is predicted that eventually all new builds in the UK & Ireland will be expected to have windows with U-values of less than 1.0 W/m2K.
The recently recorded cold snaps experienced here and continuing increases in fuel prices lead to increased interest in energy efficiency and savings. For many of us the cost of household energy has soared in recent years.
The first thing that is looked at when talking about energy savings are the windows and doors. High quality and standards to match are essential and this is why window and door fabricators are always looking at ways of improving their business.

Marketing manager and the owners daughter Caoimhe Kenny spoke to Building Ireland about the services that they provide.
“We work mainly in the residential and commercial markets, but would do work for other industries on occasion as well. A lot of our customers would be private and for developers,” said Caoimhe.
“The company has done a lot of work for new housing developments both here in Wexford and other counties. There are grants available for the elderly to improve their homes and we do quite a good bit of work in that area too.”
K&K Windows source their materials from highly certified suppliers to facilitate the production of a top class product. All glass is sourced from reputable firms like Carey’s glass which offer the highest specification of glass on the market. Carey’s Vista Therm glass is synonymous with the window industry and has a proven track record in the market place. This glass is hugely energy efficient which benefits both the consumer as well as the environment. Irish owned Profile Systems supply many of the materials used by K&K.
“All materials sourced and used here would come from companies that are known for producing high quality products and we use nothing but the best.
The family run business manufacture all of their products locally which ensure their high quality standards are adhered to. “Everything is custom made in our purpose built factory to suit the customer’s individual needs and requirements. Our design team are here to work with the customer and if they are unsure of what they want, we can point them in the right direction with some expert advice.”
Of course, to achieve the success that they have achieved wouldn’t be possible without a loyal and experienced team on hand to carry out the daily duties.
Caoimhe informed us that K&K Windows have a highly skilled workforce, many with over 20 years’ experience and are very thankful to their team for their ongoing hard work and dedication to the company.

K&K Windows Ltd have set high standards for themselves over the years and it is a situation that they must strive to meet on a daily basis.
“There is a huge emphasis on quality and there are strict regulations in place that we adhere too. Only last year, a new regulation was brought in that when working with locks, you need a locksmith licence and we obtained one straight away.”
Caoimhe admitted that they are always looking at ways not only to expand but to add to their product range, which already is an extensive list. With over 72 different types of glass K&K can offer a range of glass options with workable lead teams K&K are leading the way in insulating glass by offering Low E energy efficient double and triple glazed units, and for extra care a treble seal. K&K offer a much lower u-value than others.
