10 Mar , 2022

Celebrating 15 years in business, Maor Scaffolding Ltd is one of Ireland’s foremost scaffolding companies. A commitment to high quality workmanship, service, safety and value-for-money ensures the firm continues to reach new heights.

From humble beginnings in 2006, Maor Scaffolding has grown to employ 160 people directly and another 20-30 on a sub-contract basis. The company was founded by Joe O’Riordan (managing director) and Thomas Magan (director), who have over 60 years’ combined experience in the scaffolding sector, and relocated to Kingswood Cross, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 a decade ago after outgrowing its original premises in Straffan, Co. Kildare. Rory Tinkler became the third director in the company a few years ago.

Scaffolding is an essential part of any construction job. With teams operating across Ireland, with particular knowledge and expertise in Leinster, Maor Scaffolding can ensure that you complete your project safely, professionally, on time and within budget.

Maor Scaffolding carries out work in a host of different environments. Its projects range from commercial and industrial to residential and historical. The company has erected scaffolding in factories, castles and housing estates – no job is too big or too small. Its dedication to high quality workmanship, excellent safety standards and prompt service is brought to bear on every project.

Recognising that no scaffolding job is the same, Maor Scaffolding’s extensive experience, knowledge and training allows it to adapt its scaffolding to best suit the needs of each individual project. The contractor’s tailor-made, client-focused service ensures you get exactly what you want from your scaffolding at the most competitive price. It is fully equipped to meet your scaffolding requirements in any environment.

“We’re currently working on several different jobs. We have a lot going on,” Joe O’Riordan explains.

“Our customers vary from large-scale commercial developers to homeowners. Our client-base includes some of Ireland’s biggest construction and demolition companies, including John Sisk & Son (Holdings), Collen Construction, John Paul Construction, Jones Engineering, Walmac / M&P Construction, Bennett Construction, Jones Engineering, Leo Lynch, Hegarty Demolition, Kirby Group, Mercury Engineering and Walls Construction.

“We also work for pharma and tech giants like Alexion, Pfizer, Facebook and Intel as well as Diageo.”

Maor Scaffolding is dedicated to providing the best service for its clients, ensuring a safe working environment for their workers as well as its own. The company employs a full-time safety officer who makes sure the highest safety standard on all scaffolding projects is reached, and that all staff members are fully trained in the best health and safety practices.

Maor Scaffolding’s qualified and trusted scaffold erectors have comprehensive experience and training in scaffolding and safety. The company regularly re-trains staff to ensure their scaffolding skills are kept as sharp as possible.

“The safety of our staff, customers and that of the public is our highest priority. Our ability to consistently deliver safe access solutions to the client on-site is the result of a dedicated business process,” the affable managing director adds.

Maor Scaffolding can help with all your scaffolding needs in a commercial environment. Quick, efficient work is crucial when operating in such an environment. The company recognises the need for an innovative and safe approach to commercial projects, as previous clients can attest.

Maor also recognises the need for scaffolding in the industrial sector to be clean, safe and efficient, and that it cannot interfere with the everyday operation of the company. In addition, it regularly brings its scaffolding solutions to the residential sector, working with leading Irish construction firms to build safe and comfortable homes. The scaffolding expert has also been involved in various historical building projects. The set of scaffolding skills necessary to carry out such delicate, specialised work can only be found at Maor Scaffolding.

The Dublin-based concern has worked on a wide variety of projects since its inception. It provided scaffolding during the construction of the Aviva Stadium and The Central Criminal Court in Dublin. Other high-profile projects it has been associated with include the new Guinness Brewhouse at St. James’ Gate, Sandyford Business Park, the GPO, Mater Hospital, Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Tullamore Dew Visitor Centre, Walsh Whiskey Distillery in Carlow and the stunning 19th century Humewood Castle.

Among the major projects Maor Scaffolding is currently engaged in are Cherrywood (residential), Cooper’s Cross (residential and commercial), Spencer Place (hotel and office block), AIB Fibonacci Square (commercial) and Two South County (office park). John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd are the main contractors on the Cherrywood, Cooper’s Cross and Fibonacci Square projects, while PJ Hegarty and Collen Construction are the main contractors on Spencer Place and Two South County respectively.

Maor Scaffolding is also proud to have worked on the hit TV show, ‘DIY SOS: The Big Build’, which is famous for bringing out the very best in people. In each episode, an army of volunteer builders, labourers, trades, suppliers, friends and neighbours come together, giving their time, labour and materials, to help a local family whose lives have been impacted by a significant loss or misfortune.

“We have worked on two projects this year and hope to continue supporting this great cause in the future.”

The scaffolding systems used by Maor are Kwikstage Scaffold, Tube and Fitting Scaffold and Layher Scaffold, which is a German product used on up to 30% of the company’s jobs. Since launching on the Irish market in 2016, Layher has set the standard for quality scaffolding. All Layher modular scaffolding systems and scaffold products are design-engineered to solve real world problems better than any other product and make every day work easier, more efficient, safe and more profitable.

All Layher products made of steel are high-grade hot-dip galvanised, making them almost maintenance-free and for that reason, the obvious choice for punishing use in special scaffolding construction. Layher also offer a comprehensive range of protective and event systems along with rolling towers and ladders.

“We’ve invested heavily in Layher scaffolding in recent times and are already reaping the rewards of that investment. It’s stronger than the other systems, can go to any height and can be built with different angles. We’re currently using it on projects for Sisk at One Wilton, Intel in Leixlip and Dublin Airport,” Joe adds.

In summary, Maor Scaffolding excels in delivering quick, efficient, innovative and safe solutions, no matter how large, delicate or specialist the brief. For all your scaffolding needs, make sure to give Maor a call.
