20 May , 2021

Marlhill Construction Services is a multi-disciplined, industry-leading building contractor providing a comprehensive range of construction services to the healthcare, education, leisure, civic and cultural, retail, commercial and residential sectors from its base in in Ardfinnan, County Tipperary.

Established in 2011 by Seamus Butler, who boasts more than three decades of experience working in construction across Munster and further afield, Marlhill Construction Services offers a full range of residential, commercial and industrial building services including Management Contracting; Design & Build; and Traditional Building Arrangements.

One of the many projects Marlhill Construction were busy on at the time of writing was an extension to Tipperary Education and Training Board’s Further Education & Training Centre in Archerstown, Thurles – a familiar site for Marlhill as they have been the contractor of choice here since the facility’s inception.

The current €1.3 project, Phase 4 of the works at Tipp’s newest Further Education & Training Centre, which commenced in February of this year, incorporates a wide range of new trainee facilities: two plumbing workshops, two new classrooms, two new offices, a welding workshop, new toilet facilities, an external storage portal frame building, elevation alterations and minor interior alterations as well as all associated site development works.

Marlhill Construction had previously delivered Phases I and II. Phase One of the building works in Archerstown – which comprised a complete renovation of the site from an industrial factory setting to third-level education standards – was completed in March, 2018, ahead of the facility’s opening the following month, and included the provision of offices, meeting room, workshops, classrooms, test centre, canteen and catering facilities.

Marlhill commenced working on this project in September, 2017.

The building was an old manufacturing plant and the brief was to transform it into a modern training facility for apprentices, sub-dividing the main process area up into six electrical apprentice workshops and four classrooms, one of which could be used as a lecture room. The existing admin building was completely stripped out and upgraded. The project was delivered in six months, with Jamie Butler project managing the complete construction, M&E and fit out of the building.

Phase Two of the project – to accommodate heavy plant and welding apprentices – comprised new classrooms, welding workshops, toilet block and First Aid rooms. This phase was completed in three months and again Marlhill Construction were main contractors overseeing all construction, M&E and fit out.

Dedicated to maintaining a safe working environment for all employees with significant resources deployed to ensure best practice in the areas of Health & Safety, Marlhill Construction Services’ exceptional track record for delivering educational projects has seen them secure a project with Waterford & Wexford Educational Training Board, due to commence in Q1 2021, while the family-run business’s reputation for construction excellence is such that they continue to be awarded a steady supply of projects across all other sectors, working closely with all the leading local architects and engineers.

MCS focuses on sound financial and management principles, traditional craft skills and professional management combined with technical and plant resources that have allowed them to gain a reputation for high-quality commercial, residential, healthcare and education projects since formation.
