Celebrating 21 years in business, MGM Construction Ltd is a name synonymous with quality workmanship and a prompt delivery of construction projects in the Dublin and Leinster regions.
Based in Kilkenny, the company has successfully completed projects in a range of sectors since 1999, including commercial, retail and high-end residential. Outstanding craftsmanship, attention to detail, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of MGM Construction. Health & Safety is at the core of the business, and never more so than in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. From concept to completion, the MGM team is with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs, and that there are no hidden or extra costs involved.
The contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from satisfied clients.
“We pride ourselves on quality and exceeding the needs and expectations of our clients, whilst building long-lasting relationships,” company founder and co-director Martin Murphy says.
“We have worked with many different architects and clients over the years, and in many cases have completed repeat projects with the same design team and client. We will continue delivering to the highest standards on time and on budget.
“Our goal is to tailor each individual project to our clients’ requirements. This leads to a unique and bespoke product, whilst using the most up-to-date methods of construction and superior building products and materials.”
With Martin and fellow director Nicky Maher at the helm, MGM Construction has grown to employ 15 people directly, while it can have up to 50 staff and sub-contractors on site at any one time. By employing highly-skilled people and working closely with leading architects and engineers, MGM is able to deliver the highest quality construction to its clients. The Kilkenny company’s one-stop shop approach ensures that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and stress-free.
While MGM has completed works on behalf of the HSE, Department of Education, Merck Sharpe & Dohme and Glanbia in the past, its focus nowadays is primarily on the retail and commercial fitout and refurbishment sectors. The company has a proven track record in the fitout and refurbishment of shops, offices and service stations and forecourts, with the Musgrave Group (SuperValu and Centra), BWG (Spar, Eurospar, Mace, Londis and XL) and Inver Petroleum being regular customers.
“Retail and office fitouts have become our bread and butter,” Martin explains.
“Our ability to work in ‘live’ environments means shops and petrol stations can continue to trade as normal while we’re onsite. We provide a complete turnkey fitout and refurbishment service which enables us to attract repeat business time and again. We adopt a team-work philosophy, not only internally, but also with our clients and design teams.”
Recent shop / forecourt fitouts and refurbishment projects have included Centra Kilmeaden, Centra Piltown, Applegreen Irishtown, Kilkenny and O’Brien’s Sandwich Café, McDonagh Junction, Kilkenny. In addition, MGM has completed new builds for Inver in Freshford and Johnstown, both Co. Kilkenny. The Freshford Inver service station incorporates a Mace convenience store, while the Johnstown service station incorporates a Spar shop.
A CIF and CIRI member, MGM has completed a number of projects at Aut Even Hospital in Kilkenny, with the latest being a new day ward and clinic. A few years ago, the company developed a 600-space carpark at Ardkeen Hospital in Waterford.
High-end one-off residential developments are another company speciality. Last year, MGM carried out the restoration of a Georgian House in Dun Laoghaire and added a modern extension. More recently, the contractor has completed a French Chateau-style new build in Ashford, Co. Wicklow. Another recent project involved gutting an existing building and constructing a new garage and motor factors for McGuinness Commercials in Kilkenny.
Apart from the inevitable disruption to its supply chain, MGM has been largely unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Martin Murphy and Nicky Maher have a wealth of experience in the building trade and are renowned for their hands-on approach and can-do attitude. Rest assured that whatever your project, you’re in safe hands with MGM’s expert team of builders, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, plasterers and architectural designers.
Martin and Nicky would like to take this opportunity to thank their customers and suppliers for their continued support. Here’s to the next 21 years of MGM Construction!
