MKS Kennedy Homes enjoying “busiest year yet”

31 Jul , 2024

Operating out of Navan, Co Meath, MKS Kennedy Homes Ltd provides its clients with high standard services that are within budget and on time. Building Ireland touched based with its Managing Director Mark Kennedy to hear more about the company, its current projects and the overall state of business at the moment.

MKS Kennedy Homes Ltd is a company which prides itself on its industry knowledge, reliability, flexibility and competitive rates.

It was 13 years ago when the Kennedy family originally set-up MK Carpentry and Building before becoming a limited venture two years later and changing its title to Kennedy Homes Ltd.

Today, the Giltown-based firm goes by ‘MKS Kennedy Homes Ltd’ and very much remains a family business, with nine full-time staff in total on its books.

Building Ireland spoke with Managing Director Mark Kennedy to learn more about the ins and outs of the business and its overall hopes moving forward.

“There’s nine working here full-time and my sister Aoife in the Admin in the office. I’m Managing Director, my father John does all the ground works,” he outlined.

“We specialise in new builds, extensions, renovations and attic conversions really. We’re getting a lot busier at the new builds now. We used to only do a handful of them but we must have seven or eight booked in this year so far.

“We do a lot of extensions and renovations as well, but not as many attic conversions as we used to as we’re staying away from it a bit at the moment.”

Now 34 years old, Mark himself is a carpenter by trade and proudly heads up a thriving business which is recognised as one of the leading builders and property renovation companies in the Royal County.

At MKS Kennedy Homes, they have everything it takes to ensure that your new house build, extension, renovation or attic conversion is of the highest quality with a superior finish.

To that end, it’s no surprise to hear that business is booming at the moment for the company and, according to its MD, it has been the case for some time now.

“Last year was one of our best years and this year is going to beat them all,” beamed Mark.

“It’s our busiest year yet. We only have two months of it left to take on projects and we’re booked up for the year.

“The last three years, including this year, have been very good for the business in fairness.”

Since its inception, the company has worked with clients to ensure that they get the new home, extension or the new kitchen that they had envisioned.

Clients benefit from its extensive experience in new homes and house extensions and the proof is very much in the pudding when you look at the projects which MKS Kennedy Homes has delivered down through the years.

Right now, Mark and his team are immersed in numerous different projects around Co Meath and into Dublin as well.

“We’re nearly finished a new build in Walterstown and I’m actually just joicing a house here in Garlow Cross, which is a new build as well,” he said.

“We have a big massive renovation/extension in Castleknock that’s nearly done and there’s another extension in Castleknock on at the minute.

“We’ve another big renovation job going on in Ashbourne on the N2 and then we have four houses to start between March and April, and a big house project in Dunshaughlin as well.”

So, all of that considered, the obvious question is what has been the secret behind MKS Kennedy Homes’ success to date?

How has a small carpentry and building start-up evolved into what is now very much a new builds, extensions and renovations specialist with full up project books and an excellent reputation amongst its clients?

The way Mark sees it, quality work combined with a personal touch go a long way when it comes to this line of work.

“I keep in contact with people and it’s more personalised with us,” he stated plainly.

“Even when we get quotes in, I don’t give quotes back before I met clients. I like to meet the client first to go through and find out exactly what they’re looking for. We probably provide more of a personal touch, I suppose.”

Still a young man in his mid-30s, MKS Kennedy Homes’ Managing Director is ambitious and eager as ever to continue growing the business as home improvement specialists.

The next few months ahead are set to be even busier for company and the plan is try and keep growing along the way while keeping ahead of the competition out there.

“We just hope to keep getting busier and keep growing. That’s where I’m at this moment,” Mark explained.

“Obviously, we wouldn’t be as big as a lot of the builders around and I’ve been battling against some of the bigger builders for years, so the plan is to kind of just to grow and be more competitive.”
