Celebrating 20 years in business, Mountainlodge Mechanical Services are leading heating and plumbing specialists based in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath.
While the company was established in 2002, its founder and commercial director Stephen Shanley has over 35 years’ experience in the industry. Stephen is joined by his wife Lorraine, who is also a director, Adam Traynor, who is contracts manager, and a 40-strong team of plumbers, fitters and office staff. The company is fully insured and is both C2 and VAT registered.
The Mountainlodge crew pride themselves on working closely with design teams and main contractors to deliver full mechanical packages on time and within budget. All plumbers are qualified in both oil and gas, and are fully up-to-speed with the latest renewable technology.
The core of the key personnel has been on board since the beginning and the consistently outstanding workmanship that follows on from this continuity results in a high level of repeat business and recommendations from satisfied clients. These include BM Durkan, Cannon Kirk Group, KJA Developments and Homeland Group.
Serving Dublin and the surrounding counties of Kildare, Meath and Wicklow, Mountainlodge Mechanical Services provides a wide range of services to the residential and commercial sectors. It has delivered high-quality plumbing, heating and mechanical solutions on projects ranging from large housing developments, churches and hospitals to office blocks, hotels and one-off homes, including high-spec and period houses.
The main services provided include all mechanical works, ventilation, geothermal, air-to-water heat pumps, boiler servicing and replacement, SEAI heating upgrades and underfloor heating.
As the move towards renewable energy solutions continues to grow, Mountainlodge Mechanical Services is installing and retrofitting more heat pumps than ever before. A heat pump is a device that transfers heat energy from a heat source such as the ground, where a ground source pump is used, or from the air where an air source heat pump is used. The generated heat in turn provides a home heating source for hot water, underfloor heating, radiators etc. Heat pumps are a very convenient and incredibly cost-effective way of heating your home or premises while also being exceptionally environmentally friendly. They are rapidly becoming a primary way to provide comfortable and economic home heat in Ireland, removing the need for oil and gas fossil fuels.
“Heat pumps aren’t compulsory in new homes, but they are becoming the norm for most developments. People expect to see a renewable heat source in a new property,” Stephen explains.
Mountainlodge Mechanical Services is providing full heating and ventilation packages to two large residential developments, namely Davitt Road in Drimnagh, Dublin 12 for BM Durkan and The Meadows in Kill, Co. Kildare for Cannon Kirk. Davitt Road will consist of 265 high-quality one and two-bedroom apartments spread across four blocks, ranging from three to seven storeys. It will also include two guest apartments, a retail / café unit, a resident’s gym, meeting rooms, residents’ lounges, BBQ areas, 119 car parking spaces, electric car chargers, internal semi-public paths, public and private open spaces and all communal facilities, including refuse and bike parking.
The Meadows is a development of 155 super-sustainable homes boasting an A-rating. It consists of a mixture of large architecturally-designed luxury, two, three and four-bed homes built to the highest modern standards.
Asked about his company’s success over the past two decades, Stephen replies: “Having the know-how to deliver the work and the adaptability to work seamlessly with design teams is key. As well as having our own knowledge of what we are doing, we are also able to adapt in a pressurised environment and always remain open to suggestions. By being flexible and adaptable, we can provide services exactly as required.”
The focus is very much on providing quality services at all times: “We offer a top-class service and deliver all projects on time and within budget. This is a given and you must have the right people, the right products and the right suppliers to achieve this. Being approachable and contactable, and being able to work closely with design teams and main contractors is vitally important.”
Of course, maintaining an in-depth knowledge and understanding of products, systems and legislation is vital to the development and viability of all mechanical services contractors. “You have to keep abreast of regulations that are coming in, stay up-to-speed and keep yourself informed on what’s current, and also be aware of what’s coming down the line. The plumbing industry has changed dramatically over the last 10 years and will continue to do so,” Stephen adds.
Compliance and Health & Safety are at the heart of everything Mountainlodge Mechanical Services do, be it installations or maintenance, and having an excellent team of plumbers, fitters and engineers contributes to the company’s exceptional track record in this regard.
Stephen would like to take this opportunity to thanks his clients and suppliers – who include Heat Merchants (Tallaght), Hevac (Naas Road), Chadwicks (Robinhood Industrial Estate, Clondalkin) and DPL (Kilmainham) – for their continued support as well as his staff for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
