Founded in August 1987 by directors Noel Dean and Dympna Dunworth, the company trades as ND Electrical Wholesalers in Rathfarnham and ND Electrical Supplies in Rathnew. This year marks 25 years of ND Electrical in Co. Wicklow, having originally opened a branch in Wicklow town before relocating to nearby Rathnew in 2006.
During that time, ND Electrical has built up a large and loyal customer-base in the Garden County and continues to go from strength to strength on all fronts.
“It all started in Nutgrove Avenue, Rathfarnham where we continue to operate from. Noel and Dympna opened a second branch in Wicklow town before moving to our current location in Rathnew 18 years ago,” Rathnew branch manager Simon Murphy explains.
“There are six people employed in Rathnew and another 17 in Rathfarnham. It’s a real team effort between the two outlets which operate hand-in-hand. Customers can be assured of a top-class service no matter what branch they choose to do business with.”

The company sources its Fahro range of electric heating solutions from South Coast Sales, including electric radiators, panel heaters and towel radiators. Its supplier ATC Ventilation offers an extensive range of ventilation solutions for every type of property.
Furthermore, ND Electrical carries a full range of lighting and luminaries for domestic or industrial projects, stocking everything you need to install your new lighting products. From Busbar chambers, consumer units and distribution boards, the wholesaler also supplies the full range of Hager and Garo products. In addition, it stocks a wide range of white-moulded or decorative wiring accessories from Click Litehouse, MK, Hager, Iona.

“We’re busy all year round,” the affable branch manager reports.

Ninety-five per cent of the time, they’ll go out the door with what they came in for. We have a central warehouse nearby which has everything we need.
“In the unlikely event of us not having a product in stock, we will have it within 24 hours. We always go the extra mile to ensure our customers are happy with our service and that they are getting the right product.”
Opening hours in Rathfarnham are from 6.30am to 4.30pm Monday-Friday and from 7.30am to 4.30pm in Rathnew. Both branches are also open from 8.30am and 1pm on Saturdays. The early opening times cater, in particular, for the large volume of electricians who call in for products on their way to work.
