26 May , 2021

Noel Noonan Fabrications (NNF) has established itself as one of Ireland’s leading specialists in general fabrications. Established in 2008 by Noel Noonan, the Cork-based company provides an unrivalled service in stainless steel and mild steel fabrication, and has earned a reputation for outstanding quality, professionalism and customer satisfaction.

Fabricating is a very skilled trade that covers a wide range of industries and NNF excels in designing, fabricating and installing quality products in stainless steel and mild steel for industrial, commercial and private clients nationwide. All of its products are designed to your specification and tailored to meet your needs. With satisfied customers not only in Ireland but also in the UK, a professional service and high-quality work is assured every time.

Operating from a state-of-the-art premises in Ballinhassig on the outskirts of Cork City, NNF has grown to employ 22 staff and boasts an impressive client-list which includes main contractors such as PJ Hegarty & Sons, Rose Construction, O’Shea Builders and MMD Construction. A stainless steel fabricator by trade, Noel Noonan had 15 years’ experience in the sector prior to setting up his own business.

“I had worked for two different companies and was a foreman at the age of 23, so I felt it was a gamble well worth taking,” Noel remembers of NNF’s inception.

“We got off to a good start and were very busy for the first two years. But then the recession hit us and things went quiet for a couple of years before we started working for PJ Hegarty in 2012. Our business got a huge lift from that and we haven’t looked back since.”

NNF initially operated from a 1,000 sq. ft. unit before relocating to its current base in 2013, which was 3,500 sq. ft. at the time. Expansion means the firm now has a 13,000 sq. ft. unit as well as a 3,500 sq. ft. stainless steel workshop. Two years ago, NNF invested in a new 200-tonne brake press along with a new guillotine, digibender, CNC plasma table and CNC pipe-bending machine.

The company is in the process of obtaining its Safe-T-Cert, which is a certification scheme designed for certifying the Safety Management Systems of contractors working in the construction industry. NNF is CE certified up to Execution Class 2 (EXC2). CE marking demonstrates compliance with the appropriate manufacturing standard for a product and became mandatory for fabricated structural steelwork in July 2014.

NNF produces a wide range of quality products for an array of customers. Its specialist craftsmen are highly-skilled and experienced, and can fabricate custom-designed stainless steel products of varying size and structure in order to meet customers’ requirements. Bespoke products include staircases, balconies, balustrades and handrails, mezzanine floors, canopies and shelters, access ladders, fire escapes, security fencing, gates, railings, SS piping, caging, general fabrication, platforms, plates, angles, frames and brackets, hoppers and chutes, gantries, lamp-post protectors, barriers and security grills and lockable storage boxes.

“Anything to do with fabrication, we do it,” says Noel, who is joined in the business by his wife Jacqui and son Jamie, who is currently doing his apprenticeship.

Access ladders and fire escapes are two of NNF’s most in-demand products. In this regard, it works closely with customers to ensure the fire escape it manufactures exceeds expectations. Working across all sectors, the fabricator has manufactured fire escapes in factories, chemical plants, schools, hotels, leisure centres and domestic properties. Its range of designs span from single-flight domestic fire escapes through to multi-floored staircase structures, which all take careful planning and accurate engineering. NNF can remove an old fire escape and replace it with a new one.

The company manufactures and fits high-quality metal gates of all types, including garden gates, street gates, farm gates, driveway gates and estate gates. It prides itself on producing ‘made to measure’ custom steelwork of the highest quality.

Feature stairs, balconies, glass floors and balustrades are among the other products NNF is renowned for. The company designs and installs bespoke balconies and balustrades using glass, stainless steel and painted steel finishes. Its balconies add valuable outdoor space to new and existing buildings.

NNF can help you to create a whole new outlook, offering a complete balcony service, from a free, no obligation site survey to quotation to fully finished balcony installation, including quality timber decking. All balconies and balustrades are pre-built in the NNF factory, galvanised and powder-coated to protect against the elements as standard, and can be fitted on-site in a few days.

Canopies and shelters are another NNF speciality. From entrance canopies, both free-standing and wall-mounted, to link bridges and a range of balcony designs, it has added a stylish finishing touch to buildings. Canopies fabricated from galvanised, powder-coated steel or stainless steel with toughened and laminated glass panel infill provide ample protection from the Irish weather.

Steel sheds, fencing and steel furniture products are always in demand also. NNF’s steel palisade fencing is widely used in industrial and commercial fencing applications, and provides an ideal perimeter security option.

NNF is currently supplying products to two residential projects in Dublin (Cherrywood and Spencer Dock), Douglas Shopping Centre in Cork and three schools in the Carrigaline area. It has recently completed projects at Penrose Dock in Cork, Limerick Prison, Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical in Cork and Irish Distillers in Midleton.

The company aims to provide its customers with the best products, service and value-for-money on the market. Its fabricators are experienced in Mig, Tig and Ma welding, while it provides welding services and repairs to all steel structures.

To sum up, NNF offers a courteous, expedient and professional service of the highest calibre with quality control being a major part of its manufacturing. Being well accustomed to providing steelwork to builders and contractors, no job is too big or too small for this exceptional Cork operation.

Noel would like to take this opportunity to thank his customers and suppliers for their continued support as well as his staff for their skill, hard work and dedication.
