P Fallon & Sons is devoted to quality

15 Dec , 2025

With decades of experience in completing residential and commercial projects, P Fallon & Sons Ltd is one of the most trusted names in construction in the West of Ireland.

Based in Swinford, Co. Mayo, the company was established by Peter Fallon in 1982 and continues to go from strength to strength under the direction of his sons Brendan and Kevin. It has earned an enviable reputation for delivering high-quality work, from home renovations and extensions to commercial / industrial maintenance services.

“We come from a family of builders who originated from Ballindine,” Brendan explains.

“Our father, who is still going strong at 90, was a plasterer who emigrated to England before returning home with a young family in 1978. We actually came home on my 11th birthday. He set up this business four years later, initially specialising in plastering before branching out to provide a full building service in the Mayo and Sligo area.

“Kevin and I, along with another brother, Sean, followed my father into the business. Sean left to join the OPW, but Kevin and I are still here and committed to carrying on the family tradition. As a family-run business, we pride ourselves on our personal touch, attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile for our clients. But most of all, we pride ourselves on pumping out quality work.

“It’s the secret to our longevity and success as well as the reason why we have so many long-standing customers. Repeat business is what sustains us.”

Superior workmanship, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the other hallmarks of P Fallon & Sons. Health & Safety is also at the core of the business. From concept to completion, the Fallon team is with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs, and that there are no hidden or extra costs involved.

Whether your next project is a rebuild or extension, P Fallon & Sons’ one-stop shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and hassle-free. The Co. Mayo contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from satisfied clients.

By employing highly-skilled people, collaborating with clients’ design teams and using only the very best building products, this fully-insured, SEAI-registered contractor is able to deliver exceptional construction solutions.

P Fallon & Sons’ small but dedicated team are supported and supplemented by the same tried and tested subcontractors, including electrician Jason Gawley, plumbers Pat Gallagher and Martin Dunne (who has been working with the Fallons since 1987), plasterer Jonathan Doyle and Adrian Loftus Plant Hire. The company’s main suppliers are Chadwicks in Castlebar and Sligo, Tower Hardware in Swinford, Brooks Sligo, Harrington Concrete & Quarries, Molloy Concrete, Munster Joinery and Season Master Double Glazing.

While home renovations, extensions and disability adaptations are P Fallon & Sons’ ‘bread and butter’, the contractor also carries out maintenance, repairs and general building works for Vantive (formerly Baxter Healthcare) at their facilities in Castlebar and Swinford.

“We used to focus exclusively on new one-off houses, extensions and renovations, but now we’re doing a mix of extensions, renovations and commercial / industrial work. We’ve undertaken very few new builds since the recession hit in 2007. In any case, some of the refurbishment jobs we now do might as well be new builds. They are that big,” Brendan explains.

“We’re currently carrying out a large extension to a house in Aclare, Co. Sligo, second fixing another house near Kiltimagh and are also in Vantive. Our biggest project to date involved finishing a ghost estate called Rathdubh in Swinford which consisted of 26 houses, and bringing them up to a high spec’. The scope of works also included putting in a new entrance, tarmacking and fixing footpaths.

“It turned out really well and all the houses were sold and occupied.”

Asked if the construction industry has changed much over the last 40-plus years, Brendan replies: “The basics are still the same, but there is a lot more technology involved and a far greater focus on insulation. Every building has to be ‘A’-rated and energy efficient now. That has been the biggest change we’ve noticed.

“We are always directly involved in every project, and leave no stone unturned in making sure that the work is finished to the highest building standards, and to the client’s complete satisfaction.”

Among the best in the West, Brendan and Kevin would like to take this opportunity to thank their clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as their team for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
