Dublin-based Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates are multidisciplinary Consulting Engineers celebrating over 60 years of providing integrated, high quality Engineering Design and Management services.
They pride themselves on being an indigenous, progressive and innovative firm and work with a widespread portfolio of both public and private clients offering Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Project Management and Health & Safety services.
“We have a relationship that stretches back more than 20 years with many of our clients, including Local Authorities and Government Agencies, and private sector companies. For example, we have worked on a wide range of buildings for Green Property, including retail like Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, industrial like Horizon Logistics Park and Fonthill Business Park, and 88,500 sq. ft. of office space and retail at One Molesworth Street, where the Ivy Restaurant recently opened in the centre of Dublin. Repeat business is central to what we do, keeping clients happy is something we see as very important.”
CSEA’s mission statement and objectives are: to maintain and improve, high standards in Engineering Design and Project Management, to continually enhance the reputation of the company through professional standards of service and a client focused approach and to plan for, and implement the necessary procedures, structures and personnel development to meet the requirements of emerging markets and developing technologies.
Their current workload includes design and implementation of large-scale data centre campuses for major US multinationals, Business Park Developments, Infrastructural Projects, Warehousing, Office Developments and numerous and varied projects for the National Transport Authority (NTA). Recent work with the NTA has been on public transport infrastructure, pedestrian and cycle facilities and public realm schemes, such as:
• Design of Core Bus Corridor routes associates with Bus Connects,
• Maynooth Rail Line Transport Study,
• Greater Dublin Area Cycle Network Plan Route 11 from Sandyford to the City Centre, and
• Dublin Orbital Transport Study.
Other notable recent projects include Glasnevin Heritage Centre, Leopardstown Racecourse redevelopment and Midlands Prison expansion.
Geoff – who has 20 plus years’ experience in Civil, Structural and Transportation Consulting Engineering and Project Management – is pleased to report that their services are very much in demand at this point in time.
“The provision of infrastructure is a key government policy at the moment and we have quite a few public sector clients. We were Project Managers for the Waterford City Centre Urban Renewal scheme while Navan 2030 was recently approved by the Local Authority in Meath and is heading for construction early next year.”
They have long term and continuous relationships with Local Authorities such as Fingal County Council and South Dublin County Council. In Fingal, they were designers of projects such as Ongar Road, Ballycoolin Road, Ongar Cycle Scheme, and the N3 Mulhuddart Interchange in the past. Today’s schemes include the N3 Snugborough Road, Ongar Barnhill Road, Kellystown Road and Broadmeadow Greenway. In South Dublin, they are currently designing the Dodder Greenway, having previously designed and implemented the Grand Canal Greenway, and their work in Grange Castle Business Park has spanned more than 15 years.
People are the core strength of Clifton Scannell Emerson and they combine the best multi-skilled experience with relevant local knowledge in a professional, friendly, knowledge sharing environment.
They adopt a customer centred approach, whereby their Directors and Senior Personnel are accessible at all times to their clients proving continuous loyalty and established long term relationships.
“In any consultancy business, people are everything in terms of delivery of a service,” Geoff pointed out. “We are lucky to have really good people, with an abundance of relevant experience, and a good working atmosphere. We’re still a relatively small practice which means we communicate well with each other.
“We have a good range of experienced people in our workforce and some of our employees have been with us 15 plus years. Thankfully, we didn’t have to reduce our workforce too much during the downturn and that has given us a good platform to expand.”
On the subject of what that expansion may look like, Geoff revealed that plans are in place to re-open the practice’s Balbriggan office early in the New Year.
“That will give us added space for further expansion while it is a convenient location for clients such as Fingal County Council and Meath County Council. We would have a lot of people working with us from north Dublin and that will suit them as well. This helps us to continue to allow flexible working hours and arrangements for our employees and, in turn, attract high calibre people with a lot experience.”
“We have invested heavily in state-of-the-art technology and IT systems and software, coupled with an investment in our staff through training and continuing professional development, ensuring the highest quality and most effective design product for our Clients.”
