Peter McVerry Trust, the national housing and homeless charity, is today turning the sod on its latest social housing scheme in Dublin City Centre. The new apartment block is being built on Shaw Street in Dublin 2 and will see the construction of 12 new apartments for people impacted by homelessness. The project is a partnership between Dublin City Council, the Department of Housing and Peter McVerry Trust.

The charity’s CEO Pat Doyle said they are delighted to be commencing another housing scheme in the city. “We are absolutely delighted to be turning the sod on the project in Shaw Street today, it’s another important project in delivering 12 new homes for people in the Dublin 2 area and helping those impacted by homelessness in this community.”

“This will be our second brownfield apartment scheme in Dublin City Centre and follows quickly on from the completion of our first at New Street South last year. This project is part of a wider strategy of urban regeneration and infill projects that we are progressing in partnership with the City Council.”

Over the course of 2022 we will commence construction works on projects in Dublin 1, Dublin 2, Dublin 6 and Dublin 9 with a combined delivery of 70 social housing units and 95% of those will be one-bedroom apartments, a reflection of the need of people in homeless services in Dublin.”
