Professionalism and attention to detail continues to stand to Conor Mulcahy Construction

14 May , 2024

Established in 2017, Conor Mulcahy Construction Ltd specialises in all aspects of construction from house building to commercial, industrial and civil engineering projects. Building Ireland heard more from its Health & Safety Officer Brian Nolan recently on the ins and outs of the company and the projects it has on-going at the moment.

These are busy times at Conor Mulcahy Construction Ltd and the hopes are for things to continue that way for the Nenagh based builders.

Having started out on his own as a sole trader in 2011 with a background in carpentry, Conor took the decision to grow his venture in 2017 and business has increased steadily year on year, with the company concentrating mainly on commercial and industrial projects.

His business has since grown from strength to strength over the past half-decade or so, as it continually strives to provide its clients with building quality and excellence.

Building Ireland spoke with Brian Nolan to hear more on the current state of business for this Premier County construction firm.

“Business is very good at the moment. It’s very, very busy,” outlined the company’s Health & Safety Officer Brian Nolan, whom joined the team in Gortmore just outside of Nenagh last year.

“We’re at Phase 4 in the site upgrade of the Arrabawn Co-op project. It’s a four-phase project, so we are nearing completion. We have secured a number of projects in Tipperary, including a new commercial project on a large site just outside Nenagh Town, so we expect 2024 to be busier than ever.

“He (Conor) is keeping his feet firmly on the ground. He knows that compared to the boom times, it’s better to be small, busy and steady rather than going beyond your reach.”

Other projects for Conor Mulcahy Construction Ltd at the moment included pending upgrade works at Arrabawn Co-op main headquarters in Nenagh, as well as a three-phase sports project involving the construction of a club house and dressing rooms, at the local football club which the company is currently in Phase 2 of.

At the start of 2024, Conor and his team broke ground on a large commercial project just outside Nenagh Town, and it all makes for “exciting and busy times”, according to Brian.

So, the burning question is, what has been the secret behind this construction venture’s success since its inception? How has a small start-up grown into what is now a thriving business renowned for its excellent service?

The way Brian sees it, it comes down to a combination of different factors that are ultimately driven by its Managing Director.

“It’s the personal touch I feel. It’s a local construction business doing local work,” he stated.

“The local community know Conor because he’s been in business a long time. He’s very professional in his approach and his attention to detail is second to none. His builds are always to a high standard and, personally from working with Conor, his attention to detail and his knowledge base is very good.

“You can have a knowledge base, but you can’t apply what Conor can. His attention to detail and his business knowledge are second to none. He doesn’t just portray a good image, he has a good image and reputation and, from speaking with the outside community, his name is always mentioned in good stock and is always well received.”

Clients of Conor Mulcahy Construction Ltd can also rest assured that the company is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all its employees, contractors and members of the public who may be affected by operations.

All staff and sub-contractors are trained by Brian Nolan when it comes to Health & Safety, with tool box talks being held weekly and all staff receive appropriate training and hold current safety certificates.

Since joining the team almost a year ago, Brian has been happy to be part of a company where the environment is excellent as it strives to bring in every single project in on time and budget for the client.

“I’m delighted to be part of the company. It’s exciting times for the business,” he stated.

“Every day is different here and it’s a positive, busy environment. I’m over the Health & Safety aspect of promoting a good healthy working environment, but that was here before I even started.

“You have a good healthy working environment here with a focus on personal safety and wellbeing, as well as personal growth.”

Indeed, this Tipp construction firm continuously strives to ensure that all of its employees, consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors work to meet the high standards expected on all projects and that everyone meets the required quality and safety standards.

Looking towards the months ahead, and 2024 as a whole, Brian says that Conor Mulcahy Construction Ltd can continue to keep its busy run of form and gain some more new projects along the way.

“The hopes for 2024 would be to carry on in the same footing. Business has been good with a lot of tender inquiries coming into the office every week, we expect this year to be as busy as ever.

“We’re happy with what we’re doing, but everybody wants to keep getting busy in these times. The signs are good and business is good, so we’re trying to keep it that way.”

Fantastic to hear.
