Doohamlet Construction Company Ltd. was incorporated in 1981. The directors, Teddy Duffy, Gavan Duffy and Elizabeth Duffy, set up as a general contracting company delivering new houses, extensions and renovations successfully for many years.
As the company has progressed through the years the scale and size of the contracts increased.
The clientele and customers evolved from private individuals to government departments and multinational companies.
The company remains under the management of the original directors, however this is a family owned business and the director’s siblings are now featuring in major roles within the company structure. In recent times the majority of the works undertaken have been in the public sector.
These works involved school buildings, hospital renovations, and hospital maintenance contracts. The company has also developed a niche in the restoration of listed buildings, protected structures and church edifices.

“We’re a family-run business and Gavan Duffy has taken over the day-to-day running of the company from his father Teddy,” explained Adrian Forde who has been the company’s General Manager for the past 23 years.
“The directors are very much hands-on when it comes to our projects. We have 12 employees in total coupled with some longstanding reliable sub contractors. The company was established 38 years ago and most of our employees have been with us for in excess of 20 years. A lot of experience and skills has been built up over that time.”
As has an impressive portfolio of successfully completed projects. Prospective clients need look no further than Malones Toyota Drogheda (new showrooms and service area), St Peter’s Nursing Home Castlebellingham (new 29 bedroom extension), Castleblayney Faughs GAA club (new spectator stand) and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (Temporary Modular Two Storey Building and Histology Laboratories Upgrade) for examples of Doohamlet Construction’s exemplary workmanship.
“We’ve just finished an eight house development for the National Housing Agency through Monaghan County Council in Castleblayney,” added Adrian. “We’re also working on a new pharmacy in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital as well as a Community & Resource Centre refurbishment.”
He added: “Thankfully, we’re very busy at the minute. Typically, we carry out work for the likes of the HSE, the Department of Education & Skills and Local Authorities as well as some private work.”
The management and staff of Doohamlet Construction Co. Ltd. are committed to safeguarding the safety, health and welfare of all its staff wherever they work. To maintain these standards the company insists on the following: all employees hold the standard Safe Pass Certificate for Safety Training and Awareness. Renewed every three years, all plant operators are trained and hold valid certificates for the machinery which they operate, the company have trained scaffolders who erect and maintain all scaffolding.
